If you are considering the Pulsars, I would also look at the Dynaudio C1 Sigs.

In the $10K and under range, I would also consider Devore Fidelite speakers (excellent with tubes):

1) Under $5K, his stand mounts, the 3XLs, are awesome
2) The Gibbon 88 are maybe $6.5K I believe and are excellent all around speakers
3) A tad over $10K are his new X (as in Ten) speakers

www.devorefidelity.com

He usually demoes his speakers with Shindo, Leben and Line Magnetic amplification but the point being he typically designs speakers with benign loads (nominal impedance is usually 8 ohms and most of his speakers have relatively flat impedance curves and spend most of the frequency band above 6 ohms). So they should play very nice with your Snappers.

Nice !! Thanks. I have to go far to hear any speaker so I like to find some good choices first . Then find out where to go hear em.

Just around 10k is the Aerial Acoustics 7T - got rave reviews, S'phile Class A speaker I believe. I also like the Audio Physic house sound, and the Scorpio can be had for that price.

Steve, I think Goodwins near Boston has all these lines (Devore, AP, Aerial, Dynaudio, etc).

Have fun with the search!

3/4 :D...they don't carry Audio Physic but the others yes...

Steve, if you do get the chance to listen to the new Devore's I would be interested in your impressions on his Gibbon 88. I've been looking at them to replace my Super 8's and have heard very good things about them. The 88's list at $5800.00 and John works out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Who knows, you might even be able to go there and listen to all his speakers.

Definitely go and listen for yourself Steve and keep in mind the necessity for a efficient speaker (89db+).

John often inflates his efficiency numbers. Every review that I've read where measurements are taken, the reviewer states that they measure a few dB lower than what is claimed. I will give him that they are easy to drive, there's more to a speaker's impedance curve than just an average impedance.

As for recommendations of other speakers under 10K, both these companies are worth checking out: Monitors and Home - Clearwave Loudspeaker Design Selah isn't local, but have a few published and online reviews. Clearwave is local and can be found in a dealer or two in the area. Since they're a little lesser known than the other brands mentioned here, your money will go much further.

Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone. I don't think my ear is good enough to hear the differences in speakers when not running the same equipment as I am. I really wouldn't know the difference unless I at least heard them all side by side on the same gear.
I think I made a decision . I will post them up when I get home from work tonight and have more time. Never is it set in stone, but for now. Lol.
Thanks again everyone

Haha, you gotta get over there more often, Cyril! When I went there the first time, they were thinking of carrying the line. Was there this weekend to listen to the Aviors again in their big room this time, and they confirmed they are carrying the AP line now!:woot:

Keep us posted, good sir!

wonder how the new audio physics sound i owned a pair of the original virgos, they were so accurate but didnt have a lick of bass. great speakers though.
anyway im going with a cheaper floorstander, i like to be able to not lose my a$$ if i dont like them. and i can start up my speaker exchange again. about 10 years ago i put up $2k and bought the virgos, listened to them for 3 months and sold em for the same an bought coincident victory, then sold them an bought, silverline sonatas, then coincidnt super eclipse. and joseph rm22's and i think one or 2 more i cant remember. but all were in the $2k-2500 range, and i enjoyed them all and sold em for exactly what i paid for them. just to find out that my $900 platinum solo monitors were better than all of em.
so im going with the sonus faber venere 3.0.......... and the pulsar monitors.lol. think i need both!!!!!!i will sell my kefs.
im going faber because i think they are gorgeous and i got a friend i been speaking to around here that has heard them and gives them rave reviews :hi: and i know ill like the pulsars for a fact. and 2 pairs beat 1 pair every time.lmao!!!!!

Brilliant solution! The Venere's are crazy good. The finish on them is excellent.

Allen...thx for the heads up. Last time I talked to Paul ( a while back), I had mentioned to him the AP line and he was pretty adamant that they were not going to pick up the line because they carried it in the past and there were constant design changes and problems with the importer and I don't what else. Interesting that they are picking it up now. I am going to call Paul and set up a listening session to the Atrias just for sh*ts and giggles :D

PS: The AP line is not up on their website yet so they must still be in evaluation mode. Did he mention which models they are going to have on display? Thx Allen.

They only had the Scorpios on the floor from what I could see, and not setup. That's when I asked Jarrod if they now carried the line and he said yes (they were in eval mode around Memorial Day I think). I asked about the Aventeras but they didn't want to carry too many speakers around the 30k mark. They already have the Aviors, S5...

Be warned, to listen to a Rockport speaker is to want to buy a Rockport speaker...!

Missed your earlier post, Steve, sorry! Congrats on the speakers, they're gonna sound great!

Congrats on the new speakers Steve !! When are you expecting delivery ??

Lol!!!!! I just figured out which way I want to go yesterday afternoon.
I haven't got that far yet. I got a little bit of time yet. My whole system is about to change over in the next couple months. I'm going to do the turntable and speakers at the same time .so soon. But not today. Lol

Thanks everyone ill keep you updated !!!!
