JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...

So why do you need another pre-amp? :D If you are looking to clean up the digital "harshness".... hmmm W4S has a couple very impressive items :)...

I would love to hear what you think when you get it... because their descriptions really do seem to be entering the "snake oil" territories :D....

It comes with a 60 money back guarantee and if it sounds ok or better, will go in a second simpler system.

Its designed by Thorsten Losch of AMR. As far removed from snake oil as you can get!

Cool... because reading the documentation seemed like a county fair salesman :)... I know the company has a good reputation so figured there must be something behind it....

I know what you mean, but I've read countless feedback from users who thought the same thing. Bought it, and other iFi gear, and were VERY happy.

Their not the only ones who can't seem to resist using their "white paper" material as add copy. Instead of impressing potential buyers, can just confuse them and put them off. Simple straight forward info first and technical material later. But yes Randy, without further research I wouldn't have know it's full purpose either from the web page or sellers.

Oh, BTW, I ordered my brand spanking new Wyred 4 Sound STP SE today! Hopefully it will be ready later on this week for me to swing by and pick it up!!!

Congrats Randy, let us know how you like it. I've wanted one for a long time but never pulled the trigger. Something else always got in the way. :D

Well I just spoke with them. It should be ready for me to pick it up on my way home Wednesday!!! It sounds like exactly what I have been wanting in a pre-amp...

The Wyred 4 Sound pre-amp was ready today so I stopped by on the way home and picked it up. Tony gave me a quick look see around the office. It is obvious that everything is hand made and has real attention to detail. Unfortunately EJ was not there so I did not get a chance to meet him :(....

Now starts the break in period. The manual clearly states that there is a 200 hour break in period!

Yupper... very high quality, top notch parts. The RCA connectors are pretty amazing and the XLR inputs even have their own locking mechanism on them.

I absolutely love the volume control. Probably the best I have ever seen. Probably don't need the Rothwell Attenuators, but will play around with them when they arrive.

Relabeled the input to TEAC UD-501 :)... Have not had a chance to do any real serious listening yet, but will soon. On a quick listen it is definitely tight bottom end, very open sound stage. Got about 199 more hours of breaking in to go (according to the owners manual :)).

Oh, the McIntosh is relocated to my office and is being feed from my laptop using JRiver and USB connector. Nice office system until I eventually sell it!

Agree with Chris, just leave it on and let it cook it only gets better. In combination with the Job there is bottom end in spades and a wide soundstage. In my room it is boundary to boundary. No you won't need the Rothwell's with the W4S they would have only helped with the Mc or if you decide to go to a tube preamp in the future. Just put them away and someday you will need them with the Job and something else.

Does just leaving it on work towards the break in or does only playing music actually help with the 200 hour break in? Also, is just leaving it on duirng break in period a good or bad idea?

Randy

I leave SS gear on all the time, but leaving it on does speed up the break-in process. After a couple of hundred hours whether or not you leave it on is a personal decision.

Randy,

Jack and Chris are correct. Leave it on and play some music on repeat with the amp off when not listening. Being on and no signal running through it will not really help break in. You need to play it, having the amp on or off does not matter.

Some new photos... I call it the Office and the Loft... :D
