JOB 225 2-channel Power Amplifier ... update ...

One More Happy Customer!!

All I have to say is, WOW! The little amp that could! The air, transparency, and bass out of this little thing is amazing! Does it shame my 10+ year old Rowland? I don't think so, but it certainly give it some stiff competition at 1/10th the price. I actually think it has a blacker background than my Rowland, even with a Shunyata PC chord tethered to it. Holy cow!:disbelief:

Thank you Joe for this recommendation! So glad I did. I can easily see myself building a small, inexpensive system around this amp.

Thank you Norman for putting me on the 2nd batch pre-order list! Their email did say small batch, order quickly. So glad I did!:woot::woot:

Another happy JOB customer! Congrats Alan.

Allen,

I am glad you are enjoying it. I love using mine when I am not "tube-ing" it. The tubes are for serious listening and the Job is for fun!

Wow!

Mick,

You have a great pair of speakers. I'm pretty sure your Bel Canto is Class D. The Job is different for sure. I absolutely love what the Job does. Where are you located?

I am located in Singapore. Don't think anyone has got one over here yet. Thanks for starting this thread. Look forward to read more great reviews about this amp.

Allen, Besides the blacker background, are there any other parameters where the JOB betters the Rowland, dynamic excitement, detail/transparency, woofer control/bass accuracy, treble extension/air? I wouldn't expect it to be overall better, but it might sneak in a small victory somewhere. Has anyone used speakers with low impedance dips that test the JOB's claim of "unconditional stability, it can drive anything"? The little amp that could is gaining traction as an unbelievable value, I look forward to many more new owners posting their findings as their JOB 225s break in.

+1

My Dartzeel preamp with my Job amp makes me very happy. Should I turn in my audiophile card?

Joe, Keep your card, you've learned not to judge a book by it's cover (or cost), listen and then form an opinion.

I think the immediate thing that struck me about the Job is a light and airy sound that gives the impression of a deeper and wider soundstage compared to my Rowland. The Rowland sounds slightly darker and a bit rolled off on top, but that's its reputation. OTOH, the Rowland his a richer, more liquid midrange that makes vocals more tangible/palpable that I prefer.

As far as the Job's ability to remain composed under load, I played Reference Recording's The Firebird that has wide dynamic swings and deep drum whacks. My Aerial 10T's are known to be a difficult load, but the Job had no problem driving those speakers even at very loud listening levels.

It's early days, but I'm finding it's a great little amp. From what I've heard so far and to my ears, mate this with a smooth speaker like SF or Harbeth's and you will be one very happy audiophile!:audiophile:

HTH!

Indeed. I am learning from the Jedi Master...:scholar:

Thanks Allen,

I love to share my experience. I think my tolerance level is wider than many here, as I can accept less than the best as long as I am enjoying what I hear. It's the music that really moves me. Playing with the gear is just the icing on the cake.
