Olatunji was an activist and friend of MLK. He used to stay in a friend's apartment in NYC. I'm guessing it was thirty years ago. There would be the most amazing music and dance right there in the huge (soundproof) living room.

Very interesting jazz from Italy. Nice mix of uptempo and relaxing tracks, nice choice of instruments, lots of tuba.
This song I am not sure what he is doing... Gurgling razor blades? :DBeautiful album though!

Another fan here. I took a memorable drum workshop with Olatunji back about 20 years ago. He had such a calm fun and energizing demeanor. Really good teacher as well. One of the things that i recall was he repeatedly corrected students of the workshop who were whacking their handdrums as hard as possible. His mantra, no need to hit the drum hard to awaken its magic. He was very subtle in hand pressure but a master at hand position to elicit tone. Many great recordings of his.

Fantastic sonics, and the music is good (traditional). This was pressed by Counterpoint/Esoteric Records. Anyone know anything about this label? I need to look for more from them...

I have Musica Nuda's Complici coming soon in the mail to me. Upright bass player and female vocalist only. Audiophile quality. The songs on this particular CD are in Italian and it is wonderful. Can't wait to receive it.

From my own country but I think it classifies here as world music. Wende sings in Dutch and French and is definitely very interesting. Good SQ too.
