Two friends of mine and I went to Lyric HiFi & Video in White Plains, NY. One friend wanted to hear Magnepan, and we did. Both new Wilson happened to be there too, Sabrina and Sasha series 2. Sabrina was really nice and I had heard previous Sasha series 1 and to be honest, hated them. It was several years ago and for my taste they had TOO much detail, were a little cold and a little too bright for me.

Back to today.

HOLY CR@P! The Sasha series 2 is incredible. We listened with the ARC GS Pre and GS150 amp. I love my Strads, but there was something special going on there today. As the amp/preamp warmed up and opened up, I was blown away. BIG, BIG sound. Clear, ballsy, tremendous width, outstanding vocals, air and everything else. I am not sure how responsible the ARC was for the sound vs the speakers, but the synergy was outstanding. I am kind of reeling right now, not sure what to think. I had totally dismissed Wilson before today and hate to admit it. I am a changed man :D

Can I justify another pair of speakers?

I may have to see what I can do to make it happen.

Casual listeners usually have a relation of the type love or hate with Wilson speakers. If they are being properly fed and setup in the room they sound great, an unforgettable experience with all you are referring. However, they need proper care in setup - under the wrong conditions or poorly setup they sound miserable and unbalanced.

I got my first Wilson's - the Watt/Puppy V on the advise of Lew Johnson and used cj tubes with them with great success. IMHO current Audio Research lines are also a great match with Wilson's.

I'm one of those "friends". I was along for the ride. Always a pleasure to spend a day with Joe. I agree…the Sashas are stunning. Thank you Lyric HiFi.

Bruce,

you know I love hanging out with you. You have great taste in gear and I've learned so much. I'm not easily impressed. My original Sasha 1 demo was set up properly from a well known dealer. It just wasn't my taste. This demo was outstanding but the cherry on top would have been a Lampizator Golden Gate. OMG! I would have fainted.

Nelson,

Now I understand what you are hearing, simply wonderful.

Microstrip,

i think CJ still uses Wilson in their demo room. Not sure if they use anything else too.

Never heard wilsons but liked the post good to hear what you thought off them

Thank you Garth.

I liked the Alexia when I heard them a year ago but the demo was poor. Today, was wonderful. I'm not sure where I'll go with this, but if I can move some gear and buy a pair, I just might.

Hi Joe,

Sounds like you had a terrific day. So are you thinking Sasha 2 or Alexia?

Ken

We did Ken. I certainly had fun. I have a gut feeling the Sasha 2 is better and also a better fit for my room. I am not sure what technical differences as far as tweeters goes, but I was in awe today. I did not even have Wilson on the brain, but when you get a surprise like that, everything changes.

Not sure? Bruce do you know? It's on the website.

Joe/Bruce, sounds like you had a great time! The Alexias I had were great but I couldn't integrate them into my room well. Bet the Sasha 2s would work well in your room, Joe!

Don't you start Allen :) I'm sure I'll have the same issues you guys had but I really think the Sasha 2 are the perfect size.

i think so too, sadly :exciting:. Uh oh, I'm in trouble !

The latest batch of Wilson speakers are no joke. Glad to see you opened your mind and your ears, Joe. The question is, will you be opening up the wallet as well? :D :D
