Gobel Divin Monarque

These are images of the new Gobel Divin Monarque that will makes its premier at the High End Show in Vienna on June 4-7th 2026.

This is a e3 way speaker system using 2 - 15 inch woofers, 2 8 Inch Midranges and 1 EMT Air motion transformer for high frequency.
It is 96 db efficient , 21-24000hz, 4 ohm It weighs 380kg each and is 194cm by 54cm by 68cm They come packed in fight cases with castors and all are finished in real piano lacquer not automotive paint..
 
Impressive to be sure, but 380 Kg is 836 lbs. I’d be interested to know how you’d get speakers that heavy into someone’s home, since it generally isn’t practical to expect to drive a lift truck in someone’s front door.

Let's face it, for the most part, most of this stuff, with very few exceptions, requires some rationalization to accept its looks and to convince the wife, if you have one. My wife has learned not to ask. She just shakes her head as new stuff moves in and the old moves out, when it happens. She doesn't comment about looks and knows better than to ask about cost. It is a very healthy way to live out this crazy audiophile life of ours.

One thing that helps for all this stuff, is to have a dedicated room, rarely visited by the wife, kids or grandkids. I have ONLY ONE CHAIR in my room for a reason. LMAO.

I have the Gobel Marquis, similar look but guillotined above the tweeter, and barely notice them when the lights are off and music streaming.
 
Gobel speakers look like what they are SPEAKERS. Form follows function. They are not try to make them look like something they are not. I don't recall any of us involved calling them by any silly cosmetic name. They are however finished at a level that few others approach. OLiver is a perfectionist and he does an incredible job of design, fit , finish and packing.
I don't think speakers are inherently beautiful or ugly they are speakers.
There are some companies that spend a lot of time and money trying to make their products look like something they are not, is this a good approach? I guess it depends on the person buying them.
 
Obviously, a matter of personal taste, but I like the look. Kind of a middle linebacker, I'll crush the signal vibe.
 
Actually, there are some aspects of the design that make a lot of sense to me - the narrow throat by the AMT, effectively zero resonance, and the angular facets on the cabinet. I’m sure they’re way beyond my pay grade, but I’d still like to hear them.
