If you fly quick, without much advance reservation, first class, it's about $2,400 return. If you reserve two weeks in advance you might get away with $1,600 before airport fees and all the taxes.
The cheapest (when seats are on sale) would probably be somewhere around a thou. But over two grands all together is a realistic figure for me to fly from Victoria here on the Island, to New York and then from New York's airport to Bob's place. ...Plus hotel, car rental (perhaps), and all the rest, as you well know yourself.

Nelson, if I would be still living in Montreal I can take the train, or hitchhike. ...I hate gas (expensive), and everything else about it (negative impact on Global Warning).

* Did they find that plane yet, @ the bottom of the Indian Ocean?

Oooh Boy! How'd my name get into this fine mix? Sounds mighty appealing. Given plenty of advance it looks like RT from PDX to NYC is around $460. Wine, on the other hand $$$! As you say, only live once!
