Enough is enough, we want flight cases!

Hell yeah, Mike. I'm with you.

I remember back when I reviewed a set of monitors from an Australian company called Lenehan Audio. At the time, these little speakers carried a price tag just north of 2k. Not only did they look and sound great, they were shipped to my abode in individual, rugged flight cases. If an international manufacturer with real world overhead could do it for a product at that price point, I don't see why many others cannot do the same.

Mark and I were talking this morning. We were talking about how nice it is to have a flight case for the Lampizator GG. We were thinking, you know what, given the prices we are paying for gear at this level, there is no excuse that the gear doesn't come in a flight case.

I've found flight cases for $150 online.

What do you think?

I agree 100%, Mike. At these prices a flight case makes perfect sense.

my Trinity dac came in a very nice Pelican case, double boxed and padded inside a cardboard outer box. which I appreciated. little foam cutouts for all the stuff is a nice way to go. it's also nice to know I have it there for any return shipping for repairs or upgrades without worry as to the case's condition in the future.

Same here w my Trinity gear, very cool. Wheels would've been a nice touch.:-)

My Tenor and Kronos packaging.

Going no where Paul, and yes on both accounts Tenor pics coming soon and in the bathroom. It impresses clients when they are on the throne:D

I agree as well. Not just for the electronics but for cables as well. Kimber Select and Shunyata Sigma cables come in nice cases and I really wish Siltech would follow their lead.

What good are flight cases when the careless Couriermen run the forklifts thru the flight cases? Unless you have a titanium steel enclosure that weights a prohibitive amount and costs a mini-fortune to ship, it seems we are still at the mercy of imbecilic actions.

You can't prevent all mis-haps.

LoL,

Mishaps are not the same as rank carelessness, like that famous youtube of the Fedex guy chucking the Flat screen tv over the high wall and marking it DELIVERED!

winson,

Your glass is definitely half-empty. Nobody was talking about extreme situations, just the normal day-to-day mayhem.

I have a flight case for my music server. What impresses me besides the sturdiness is how quickly I can pack the unit. Slip the condom on it and into the case it goes. At the Fed-Ex office the label gets slapped on and zip-ties go through the locks after they have had their peek. Downside is the case dramatically increases the weight and shipping cost. The case is so large the handle is kind of useless. Definitely not a one-hander.

Manufacturers could offset some of the cost due to time saved in packing. I wonder how much a double cardboard box with dedicated foam costs.

Do manufacturers insure their shipments or do they self-insure? If they self- insure they could save on damage they have to pay for.

it was just a segue into the indelicate handling by our courier friends!
