I can't get into Dead Can Dance for the same reason I don't get Portishead, Raidiohead, Flaming Lips and others of similar strange/off melodic bent. I really wanted to like Dead Can Dance and Massive Attack since their recordings are supposedly top notch....but I can't stand to listen for even a minute.
Was Spiritchaser ever released on LP?
I have four of their recordings and that's my favorite, both for sonics and music.
Nearly played it to death when it was a go-to demo in my retail days. Nearly.
I'd like to hear the Mo-Fi; bet it's good. I have the 4AD lp and SACD but even the redbook cd sounds impressive. Evocative, moody, like the soundtrack to an opium dream. Glad you're enjoying it.
Know I'm late to the party --about 20 years worth -- but was given this MOFI album at Axpona and am loving the hell out of it!

Miles, hows the first track... I have two copies, on one there is this nasty hyyyccckkk hyyyccckkk hyyyccckkk, mostly in the left channel, for the first couple of minutes on the first track. I bought a second copy and its still there, just quieter. Fixing to send it back until I get a clean copy.
