Bob, try a marble supplier that works with contractors on kitchen remodels. They usually have pieces laying around from slabs that have been cut for counter tops. Usually the prices are good too.

Bob, try a marble supplier that works with contractors on kitchen remodels. They usually have pieces laying around from slabs that have been cut for counter tops. Usually the prices are good too.
Just a local marble/granite place here in Sarasota. I grabbed a piece of scrap, asked them to cut it to my dimensions, round the edges and I was all set. $100 for two slabs of granite, cut, polished, rounded, etc. was fair I thought.
That's REALLY more than a fair price if you ask me. In NYC it's a little more difficult, but I'm on the hunt

Bob, I'd bring a couple pieces with me when I fly out but I think they'll put me over the luggage weight limit!

Really good deal. United Home Audio in Baltimore sells something similar for $600 a pair.
There's a nice little side business for me!

A huge piece of gorgeous granite that was broken and must have been 1 1/4
Thick. I tried to lift it and couldn't by myself. It was gone yesterday but I will look around tonight . I also have wet and concrete saws that will cut this to any size. If I see it I'll try to move it and take it. It looked like it was garbage but no one could move it to the garbage area.

That would be wild. Can't believe that you could cut it as well! So if you happen to get it you can get a $600 discount on your next purchase
