D3's on snappers

Hi Bob,

That's great. It's true, things that I dismiss because I think it will not work or I don't even think to try it usually end up being better in the long run. I am so glad and I need to hear them again!

Hi Joe....thx and I hate to say it but YES you do have to hear the D3's with the SET's on them again. I did this yesterday on Sunday and could kick myself that I did not have this sound on Saturday when you were here. All I can say is please plan another field trip.....you will see it will be worth the experience.

It's funny how doing something like trying a different tap can make such a difference ! But I found that on my Mac amps, using the 8ohm tap was better sounding to my ears also !!

Glad you're happy Bob !

Thx Mark! I am actually ecstatic as this was a real issue for me. I loved the sound of the Absolare amps on say the Waves or even on the D1'/C1.1's but between the bass and the lack of relaxed sound and AIR, that I so much love around the voices, instruments and the entire soundstage that I really don't get with SS vs. tubes.....well let's say I was really struggling with it all. Now all of my D3 issues are completely solved and yes I am one happy camper!!!

Off topic....But those Harp Guitars are awesome. Michael Hedges was the only person I ever saw play one.

Brian,

I'm a sucker for harp guitars:) Michael Hedges was really something with a hg. The guy now that is definitely one of the best and probably best harp guitarist in the world is Stephen Bennett Stephen Bennett - Official Website Check out Stephen playing on the YouTube channel off of his site....quite something.

Bob:

What granite thickness did you use and did you find any unwanted effects by placing them under the D3s (i.e. High frequency tipped, soundstage height, etc...)?

Hi Michael, I only used 1/2 thick granite 20" X 20" pieces of granite. Possibly thicker ones would be better, But I am so happy with what it did for not only the bass but it made everything even more transparent than it was prior. I have NOT noticed one "trade-off".

I really think it depends on your floor. Someone might have a great match with their flooring and the D3's. I think my flooring and the D3's hated each other....they need a buffer:0

Mark:

Soon :exciting:.

I want to make sure they are completely broken in before I chime in and say something that I may later change/retract as they have given me quite the ride as of late.

Michael,

My D3's drove me crazy until I put the granite under them. I also was not using the "best matching tap" on my amps. Going from the 4 ohm tap to the 8 ohm tap made just as much difference as doing the granite base. Since I did these two really simple things, the D3's are literally like a totally different speaker.

When Mike asked his wife what color of new speakers should he get,she said "Why not ask the guy you're going to sell them to" !!!!!!!!

lmfao !!!!!!!!!!!!!
