What does the Scansonic MB 2.5 and 3.5 do for? Do they have enough low end output. Sees to me like a pretty small cabinet and not sure how big the mid-bass drivers are?? I am sure the tweeter with the Raidho DNA is quite good.

Mikey's infamous table setup seminar. Always something new to learn as he talks through the q&a.

Mike/cmalak:

I bought a pair at the show from Tyler, they are sitting next to my Dynaudio C2 Platinums, breaking in now. Down firing port they produce plenty of bass and get better with time. My room is 14 fee by 28 feet with lower ceiling in the basement and the bass right now is a tad boomy but I was told will tighten up one broke in more. So far they do a great job of filling the room! Very surprising the low end output coming out of these so far.... Notice how they have the speakers setup in the Raidho/Scansonic room more of an enveloping sound, the room felt massively bigger than what it was with either of the speakers playing.

Vortrex: Which Vapor speaker are you talking about? When I went in I heard pretty my what madfloyd is describing. ;)

I am very interested in the comparison as I own C2 Signatures and love them.

Well the C2 Platinums in my opinion are in a different category, more deep bass and more detail via the Esotar2.. A fair comparison would be more like the D3 which I think slightly edge out the C2s but at a much higher price point. I have heard both but never side by side which is the only way to fairly judge anything using the same equipment etc.. I think the Scansonics compete more with the Focus line into the Contour line.

I wasn't the one who picked the components and set up the room.

"In one of Musical Surroundings' many outstanding rooms, the new, substantially built and priced Magico Q7 Mk.II loudspeakers ($229,000/pair), sporting what Magico's Alon Wolf calls "the best tweeter we've ever made," sounded wonderfully smooth and warm, and very clear and inviting on a recording of Schubert's "Trout" Quintet. Equally beautiful was the guitar on an LP of Leonard Cohen's "Live in Frederickton," and an LP to 24/96 rip of a movement from a Mendelssohn symphony. The midrange was especially strong, and highs a bit toned down but exceptionally beautiful. How much of this had to do with the sound damping, thick black draping that enveloped the entire room was anyone's guess. But even with the draping, the depth on the Mendelssohn LP was balm to the ears. All told, this was a system that let you listen into the soundstage, and discover the wonders of acoustic music-making. No other system I auditioned on the first day of the show left me feeling that I enter into the soundstage so completely, rather than observing it from the outside." -Jason Victor Serinus

All I can say is that my inherent skepticism of the integrity of reviewers has taken yet another nosedive . He must be deaf.

I actually read his show report thus far on the Stereophile website and was laughing because many of the folks here had such a visceral and opposite reaction, although it must be said that Myles did not, and rather agreeing with JVS. Shows you how we all here differently and zone in on different aspects of music reproduction through speakers. But I must admit that I am more likely to agree with Mike and others when it comes to Magico speakers, usually walking away from demos/auditions with a lack of any emotional attachment to the way they reproduce music. I have not heard the S series properly, briefly hearing the S1 and S5 when Mike visited Goodwins in Boston, and I certainly haven't heard the new tweeters and midrange drivers from the Mpro and now implemented in the Q7 Mk IIs, so don't have an opinion on their newest efforts.

At Newport Beach last year I enjoyed listening to the S3 more than the Q7, despite the overwhelmingly better room and ancillary equipment enjoyed by the latter.
