Nice Bruce! Just wait until you hear it!! Looking forward to your impressions - especially with DSD.

That flight case is one giant step up from the cardboard box that the Lampi Level 4 DAC came in that I reviewed.

Big congrats, Bruce! I think I would get the Golden Gate over the Big 7 on the flight case alone for that long trip from Poland.

Awesome Bruce, I freaking love my Lampi gear, especially my GG. Enjoy !!!!

Been listening to the PCM engine for a few hours and really digging it! Some of the best PCM I've heard so far, and this thing isn't even broken in yet!

The DSD side is opening up more and becoming more 3 dimensional. The bass and body and coming in nicely with a good balance.

Mike just left and gave me a Regen and another USB cable to use. Fun times!!

Thank you so much for the update Bruce. Lampi love going around. It's amazing.

Thanks for posting on this, Bruce. There is no question Lampi DSD is in a league of it's own, but it is great to see the awesome PCM section getting some much deserved attention.

The content of my library dictates that the bulk of my listening is done with PCM, and while DSD is always a treat, PCM never leaves me wanting!!

@Gopher,

Have you tried up converting on PCM/RedBook to DSD? Do you have any preferences with your Lampi up converting to DSD or straight PCM?

I have not. Just straight PCM and straight DSD. I do plan to experiment in a few weeks when my DSD Komputor comes in.

I was having JRiver upconvert my PCM to DSD for a while and I liked it better just straight PCM (even though I had to get up a press a button!) :rolleyes:

I know this might be old news, but you guys should try hqplayer for the PCM upsampling - it is miles better than jriver. Not even close. I found foobar better than jriver also.

I moved from JRiver to HQPlayer after trying out the eval version. From day one I used NAA so I have not compared straight HQPlayer connected to DAC v/s HQP running on dedicated system with DAC connected to NAA.

I used HQPlayer for about a year and switched to Audirvana+ and now JRiver. I don't need to do any upsampling now.

So I guess the question is, which sounds better on the GG, PCM on JRiver or PCM upsampled to DSD on HQPlayer?
