What's Your Favorite Lampizator Output Tubes?

I would like to rephrase a question that I asked before. What output and rectifier tubes for the Lampi GG would do the best job of minimizing mid to upper bass with Raidho D3 speakers. Every component and cable in my system is selected with the express purpose of minimizing output in this frequency range.

Thanks so much,
Ken

Ask La Dolce Vita…he has Raidho speakers and lots of rolling experience.

Just curious - why are you / do you need to do this?

Hi Ken,

Just a thought - if you are suffering with too much mid / upper bass, I am not sure that tube rolling is necessarily going to "fix" your issue - help perhaps but not fix. I would say 101d would be your friend with a leaner rectifier (Dutch mil spec nos Philips 5rg4y).

However, if I would be confronted with your issue - I would do one of 4 things:

1. Add a bass trap tailored to that part of your frequency response that you have determined a priori with measurement

or

2. Use room correction software and/or a targeted eq for that troublesome part of the frequency response

or

3. Try replacing your speakers - play with their position for a full day (yes a long time)

or

4. Try and combination of the above or all of them

Rob Reich just confirmed with Lukasz that the Western Electric 275a should work in the Balanced Golden Gate. Although I am unclear if he meant in SE or Balanced or both modes. And if it will work in all balanced GG/BIG 7 or certain generations. But I thought you guys might be interested.

Yes, i think Shawn has tried them in his Big7 a year or so ago. Do a search at AudioCircle forum.
