What's Your Favorite Lampizator Output Tubes?

Thanks for the feedback, Mike! A little disappointing to hear that but much better than wasting a wad of dough on them. I think I could be very happy with the Elrog 300B's. :) Have you tried the Psvane WE 300B Replicas yet?

Best,
Ken

No, those are next. They are a very nice tube. But no WE300b unfortunately. But a much better priced alternative.

Desperate to try Takasuki's.

Mike,

Your feedback on these high-end tubes has been invaluable. Thanks again. I would never have the funds to test all these tubes but when I add a Lampi DAC to the stable, I'll already be ahead of the game on tube rolling.

Ken

Will try these later...

Are your 300Bs from the second string of production? The date codes seem to me to suggest they are from 2007. I hope they can resurrect the production of those tubes if they are as good as you say they are. That said, the rumor of resumption has been out there for a long time. There is certainly pent up demand. Here are my favorite output tubes (this is my spare pair of 275As).

I tried the Psvane Replica 300b's in the Lampi today. Can't say I was impressed. They are new, so I will give them more hours. At first listen, they don't sound anything like my WE300b's.

Just posted my Big 7 for sale on Audiocircle because I want to move up to the Golden Gate. Need something to make these puppies proud.

Hi the current Western Electric batch is not WE, but is called Westrex. They are not as good as NOS WEs, and can go much cheaper, 300bs just above $1k, while the older stock goes for 10k.

Btw, I have bought a set of matched quads of ST shaped WE 101Ds. Not using them though as I don't have a balanced dac - yet

Not yours, I think Mike mentioned his are current production. My 101Ds were made in 1958 - I got mine from Japan.

There are no current production WE 300b's. Mine are from the 90's. I've compared them to a friends pair from the 40's and hear no difference. What's amazing is that he estimates he has 30,000 hours on his!

I need to find a 1943-1947 101d single. Hope you got adapters.

I paid a fraction of $9k for them.

The old ones have 4 skinny pins and they are short.

The Lampi socket is best with the 2 fat/2 skinny longer pins. Check eBay for adapters.

I thought the same as the current draw was lower. I asked about 101F and 101Ls. I was told no by the man himself...

I will ask the next time I call. Based on the specs they should work no problem, but will they SOUND good, dunno? Best to ask Greg (Gpoint-audio)in the UK who has tons of DHT amp experience.

BTW, PhillipAC in the UK will get the first GG HeadDac...I am eager to hear how that will work, based on how much AL loved his B7 HeadDac.

Finally, Mike, when will you get the bal GG/211 combo? That should be Sweeeeet! Let us know here ASAP, and how it rolls with all your quality tubes you have in stock.
