I use a different arm with mono cartridge for mono records, there is a big difference in sound for older mono records pressings but not so much for recent pressing. I love mono recordings, no speaker phase issues, fewer microphones in the recording session makes it feel more natural. Mind you I love recordings up to the late 60's. I suspect up to the late 60's the recording engineer just tried to faithfully recreate the sound the musicians made. Since then they have tried to put their touch on the recording, with or without the blessing of the artist, which makes it less believable.
Mind you my comment above is just a generalization as there are some impeccable recordings done recently although mostly for audiophile labels/recordings.
Your table is set up with two tonearms Dan, or three?
