No photo, so, let’s get on with this. Chester & Lester, It’s Been a Long, Long Time. Oh, BTW this review is done by four stuffed animals, Carbear, Ferdie, Dawg, and Muffie on Fantinesvoice.com.

Two guitars begin in a nicely light, nearly hypnotic tempo, gradually moving into more of an upbeat movement of fingers on strings. This is a delicate presentation of music, highly detailed, and so well punctuated by the chatter, quite tongue in cheek, between the two of them. More of the same delicate, precise control of the sound in the second track, Moonglow....Caravan changes it all as we begin to hear a “floor” in the music, lovely for those who likes subs down to 20 Hz. Well, maybe not that low, but this is what we feel in our furry feet. The interactions between Mr. Atkins and Mr. Paul are as if they had been connected forever, yet the flavor of this album is so wonderfully extemporaneous.

On side B, more nonsensical chatter, but the results are quite dramatic. Warm, moves on to the Birth of the Blues... as one might expect. As the tracks move along, the sound moves into a feeling of ‘symphonic guitar picking’..... a term only available to stuffed animals. In an overall sense, these electric guitars are presenting as warm and rich as a classical guitar. But, this is only an opinion. One must actually listen.

One of my favs. Do you have the original to compare?
 
Christian McBride Trio/ Live at the Village Vanguard, 33 rpm.

Including Cherokee, McBride got the Grammy for in 2016 for best Jazz solo.

I only have the original, debating whether to get the reissue. Love the original pressing.

I wasn't there, so I don't know whether it s true, but this is supposedly how 70% of Americans learned what Jazz is:

The Sound of Jazz/ Columbia 33 rpm black vinyl.

I have no issues with SQ and like the selection.

Understandably, a modern day 45 rpm recording, such as the Vanessa Fernandez one is superior sound-wise, but I don't think that takes anything away from its charm.
