What Vinyl Do You Have On The Table?

Now on my turntable:

The track Africa Now is gorgeous! Illinois on bassoon and Milt Buckner on Hammond Organ. This is really deep.
Be careful: if you want to buy this album don't mix it up with the Prestige album with the similar name. Completely different...

Kick arss 2nd album from EMF - Stigma. Can't help but play this LOUD, wear my cap backwards and pretend I'm in some Manchester ecstasy driven rave

Bowie box set - the quality of the box, artwork and pressings are all top notch. Mastering - not sure yet.

Shane, please report back with your feedback. I'm eyeing this boxset, but only after I hear a few reviews.

I got one of the new Queen LPs, The Game. Need to play it again, but sounded pretty good on first spin!

Hi Allen

It will depend on what you currently have re the Bowie catalogue. If you have mainly US pressings, you will be impressed. UK pressings, not so sure.

SO and THWSTW both sound good, but or me not so open on in the upper frequencies and vocals - almost as if its been too smoothed over. I prefer my Ryko US vinyl reissues from 1990, although some call them a bright.

Hunky Dory - is pretty good and enjoyable. My EMI 100 pressing from 1997 is a bit better all round being all a bit more natural sounding.

Ziggy is the same as the 40th anniversary reissue of 2012 - Its awesome.

Ziggy 2003 mix by Ken Scott . Even thou they are the same songs, they are different and enjoyable in a way that is hard to explain, but easy to hear and enjoy.

rest to come -

New album from Kurt Vile - bloody brilliant

Thanks, Shane. I have some US pressings but am on the hunt for the UK pressings. I have HD on EMI and it is great sounding. As well as the 40th Anniversary of Ziggy.

Great feedback, Shane, thank you. Considering the Queen boxset? At nearly 5 bills, I'm going to think long and hard on this one...

Absolutely not Allen. Hate coloured vinyl  Could not imagine buying a box set of 15 or so albums for $500 and all the vinyl is coloured.

I have just got my tonearm back from Germany & so much wanting to play some vinyl, but alas, have had a few beers watching the "Bathurst 1000" so probably won't be going there for another week at least..... hhhhhh.

I hear ya, Shane, not my favorite either. But I did get The Game as a sample pressing and it does sound pretty good.

Yes, Ludwig did a great job. The boxset comes in colored vinyl, the individual LPs are black. Maybe I'll just get individual LPs as needed. But I just purchased 3 Japanese pressings so I'm good for now I think.
