What Ticks You Off The Most About Online Audio Forums

Posters that write "product a trashes product b"... Oh, and guess what, they typically own product "a", of course...
What ticks me off is that I'm occasionally foolish enough to be drawn into such pointless arguments.
I hear what I hear and self-styled "skeptics" wielding half-understood science shouldn't annoy me. Unless I allow them to.
These two things, and the obvious corollary of both; that everybody hears the same things and prioritizes those "same things" in the same way.

1. Those who consistently associate good, better, best with price.

2. Belittling gear swappers.

3. Online bullies who go ballistic if you even suggest their Magico S5/Vitus SIA-025 is not the end all and be all for everyone in audio.

4. Measurements are the end all and be all. It measures great, therefore it is. Not.

5. Asking others to help you pick the color of your next Ferrari, Lambo, whatever. Excuse me while I replace the brakes on my 2002 Toyota Camry.

6. Site owners who promote the products they sell (did I mention the Lumin rules?). [emoji6]

7. Shindo owners who go ballistic if anyone suggests they aren't a fan of little green boxes or wish to pair them with non-JH approved gear. (As a side, I'm a huge fan of Shindo).

8. Digital battlefronts. PCM, DSD, yada, yada, yada.

Go ahead and make it a Baker's Dozen Mike.

1. Those who consistently associate good, better, best with price. Wait a minute....you mean it's not??? Oh crap!

2. Belittling gear swappers. A mind is a terrible thing to waist.

3. Online bullies who go ballistic if you even suggest their Magico S5/Vitus SIA-025 is not the end all and be all for everyone in audio. I miss Bodi.

4. Measurements are the end all and be all. It measures great, therefore it is. Not. All these years I was told bigger was better; I feel so much better about myself.

5. Asking others to help you pick the color of your next Ferrari, Lambo, whatever. Excuse me while I replace the brakes on my 2002 Toyota Camry. All my Lambo's are black; I paint over the Hot Wheels logo with my wife's toe nail polish.

6. Site owners who promote the products they sell (did I mention the Lumin rules?). [emoji6] How could we not love our site owner?

7. Shindo owners who go ballistic if anyone suggests they aren't a fan of little green boxes or wish to pair them with non-JH approved gear. (As a side, I'm a huge fan of Shindo). Green! Can you really blame them? A genius yes, but what was Shindo-san thinking? I always thought it must be an inside joke.

8. Digital battlefronts. PCM, DSD, yada, yada, yada. Totally agreed.

Well done Mike.;)

2. Belittling gear swappers.

On behalf of all the box-swappers... :congrats:

It's been hard of me, to think of just one issue; and with my delay...most of the "good" ones, have been taken...lol.

I think I would just say, the ego-centric nature of the hobby; those who tend to think "what I have, is best...for everyone".

And to tie-in with that...those who never even ask, about listening habits; before recommending gear. Honestly...you really think the same applies, for re-living your youth with concert-level Zep; as does for those of you, who tend to favor 16th-century Lute :P

Re: What Ticks You Off The Most About Online Audio Forms

Yes, it takes so much effort to check someone's profile page.

PS- you need to update your signature to show your $15K of magic Entreq boxes and cables.;-)

you are correct..I have not listed my Entreq gear yet and I have not listed putting back in my MIT MA-X SHD speaker cable. The Odin speaker is sitting on the bench currently...;)

My only major dislike is those who feel a compulsory need to relentlessly bash a particular product.

Another zinger! You are on form! LoL

I think Myles got a present for Christmas 'The Complete Book of Zingers'

I thought you were going to say members with hot chics as avatars! :)

Nah. My wife would probably say that though. I wouldn't use a hot chick as my avatar (but then I don't use an avatar), but I don't have any problem looking at pictures of them.

Photos of The Lady as an avatar is very cool. OK!

Photos of your supercar is very UNCOOL.

That should be a forum rule.

I am find it disappointing when forum members are disrespectful of different genres of music. I thought we knew better?

Edit: Other forums I should add... I've seen none of that here on AS.

Almost everything has been covered by now, but I will echo about those on some sites that will argue endlessly that Cables cannot be heard to make a difference and demand that you provide all the DBT data and numbers, all while NEVER letting anyone know what gear they own (or owned) what cables they use and why and so on.

The human ear is one of the most complex organs and there are no two ears alike, not even on the same head. There are still plenty of things that cannot even be measured, let alone any one measurement that fits everyone's ears exactly.

All I have to do is take my glasses off, or put them back on for a subtle sound change, but I cannot prove it with any numbers.

I also get annoyed with some of the Vintage crowd on some sites who have never given a modern pc of gear a chance, but deems all Vintage sounds better than all Modern.

The endless threads on "What Speaker should I choose for my 1952 Sansui Receiver" and then list 5 pairs of some of the crappiest speakers one can find on Craigs List.
