What speaker have you never heard, but want to?

I would like to hear the big Shindo Latour with 300B amps.

I agree, it would be quite unique indeed.

For the very modern speakers, I'm quite interested in the Raidho, D serie. So much "buzz" on the American hifi forums.

So far my personal references are TAD CR-1 and Ref One / Nola Baby Grand / Verity Lohengrin and Sarastro II / Rockport Arrakis / Wilson Alexandia and Maxx 3 / Vivid Audio G2 and these vintage Altec Santana (Biflex version and a double pair stacked-up in an Appolito configuration).

- Magico M Project
- Rockport Arrakis
- TSW Apogee Diva's
- Genesis 1.1
- Genesis Dragon
- Avantegarde Duo Mezzo
- Avantegarde Trio Classico with the basshorn array

Haigner Alpha
Shindo Petite Latour, full size Latour, and 604
Line Magnetic Cinema Hommage and also 22a
A vintage Western Electric horn system
Nelson Pass field coil Lowther open baffle speaker with slot loaded woofers
Tannoy Westminster and Canterbury
Harbeth 40.1 driven by a big Naim system
Any big Cessaro
any Oswalds Mill speaker

Wilson Sashas 2
Maggie 20.7
Infinity IRS V
SF Lilium
Revel Salon 2
Any Raidho or Magico

As well as most of the others listed above

I would love to hear the MBL Extreme's in the right sized room.

Then I would say I am very curious about the Tidal line of speakers - no particular model in mind. Maybe the Piano Diacera in a regular room and the Sunray's in the right sized room.

David,

I heard the original Apogee Diva's demonstrated back in the day by none other than the late Jason Bloom, president of Apogee. It was one of the most memorable audio experiences I ever had, coupled with the most lifelike vocals I ever heard.

I am new to audioshark.org, enjoy reviewing the postings.

I am working on "scratching an itch" to replace my Totem Fire monitors, which do lots of things really well, hopefully I'll find a monitor with a little more pronounced high-end, but is not "edgy", and one that might have a little better soundstage, though the Totems are very good speakers. I am not able to accommodate floor standing speakers, and have a wonderful Velodyne sub woofer.

I was really impressed with the sound of the Focal's; one of my audio buddies let me know that they were releasing a new model in a few weeks, in his view, better midrange than the current high end stand mount.

I've also been advised to audition the Dynaudio Confidence C1 Platinum's, and find they have them at a dealer about an hour's drive from home.

My Focal-owning audio buddy also recommends I audition the Harbeth 30.1's.

I was once asked if I prefer "analytic" or "musical" sounding loudspeakers, and I suspect the latter.

I have the following components:

McIntosh MAC6700 receiver
McIntosh MCD500 SACD player
PS Audio DirectStream DAC
PS Audio P10 Power Plant
Autonomic MMS-5A music server
Dell laptop streaming Tidalhifi.com
Totem Fire monitors
Velodyne Optimum 10 sub woofer
Wireworld Siliver Eclipse cabling

Good list, works for me ...

I have been really impressed with the PS Audio DirectStream DAC, have had it for about eight months now, applied the latest firmware update a few weeks ago and the detail it finds in CD quality digital files is really enjoyable.

One of my audio buddies (retired engineer) let me know about the importance of clean AC power, so a few weeks ago I sold my Furman power conditioner and snagged a PS Audio "AC power re-generator", and pinch me if I'm wrong, but it seemed to make the equipment sound even better.

I'm on a tear to upgrade the speakers, that'll take a few weeks, as one of the contenders is a new model from Focal, not yet in the shops.

Probably next year, when PS Audio releases a pre-amp they have under development now, I'll consider snagging it and the power amp they are just now bringing to market.

I've really enjoyed learning more about our hobby, three years ago didn't have much knowledge at all about digital audio, fascinating (and really good sounding) stuff!

Welcome to AS. Definitely try to get into your local dealers for a listen. They are fantastic.

Good list!

If you ever hear the MBL 101 Xtreme's, you will be ruined forever and all time. Very impressive technology in those.

I can't afford to Mike! As in, literally!!

Oh well. I'd still listen to em' if I ever had the chance, even if doing so may lead to complete and total corruption. :D
