OMG!!!

I was laughing my ass off, I can't wait to show it to Susan.

I have seen this video before and it is hilarious. What makes it so funny is the amount of truth he is telling.

If your consumers want something more tangible than just opinion, should you not strive to give that to them? The goal of a review isn't to tell people what you think, the goal is to give the reader the information they need to decide if THEY will like it.

Err, no , The intention is to give his /their opinion , an informed public is an inconvenience...

Ok, we agree to disagree. I just use my ears and my experiences. You rely on more, nothing at all wrong with that. Neither of us will change the other's views. In cases like this I would call it, subject closed, not thread closed and move on to the enjoyment of fine audio.

How are the Raidhos sounding? Pics?

My best,

Peter B.

Dear Sir,

Not trying to disrespectful, but how's an average joe different than an expert reviewer? Does the former reflexively buy what he's told by the dealer and reviwer?

How's an expert different than a guy that buys a bunch of stuff and tries it in their home?

And how do you explain that in your videos the guys that review Magico give Magico best of show and guys that review YG give YG the best of show? Isn't it all about what you like?

Thanks!

Heck some of the reviewers just happen to end up with the same products they happen to give a favorable review on ...

quid pro quo ..?

I think you need to watch more than one show wrap up. That's hardly the case. I've given top show awards to Wilson, Focal, YG, SF and a few others far more often than Magico. You can't draw a conclusion based on one video just as my advisor used to say one experiment is no experiment. I call them as I hear them.

They buy it because they like it and ultimately they put their money where their mouth is.

A reviewer often also has much more comparative experience to draw upon. They often know exactly what to look for in a product to know if this one is just different from similar products, somehow magical or much of the same.

It's no different with many other products being reviewed. Cars, golf clubs or blenders. As I am shopping for a new car, I'm watching dozens and dozens of car reviews. I'm learning so much - the good, the bad and the ugly. And so far, these reviewers have been spot on. Joe Q. Public only seems interested in posting videos of him spinning out on his neighborhood street or racing his friends car.

At the end of the day a buyer has to make their own decision, but I'm thankful for reviewers who take the time and do these types of things. Don't think it takes much time? Sit down and try to do a proper review sometime yourself and you will see. Or, put up your own money for flights, hotel, meals, car rental, equipment, and go to every audio show for the next year, video tape every room, interview manufacturers, then go home and edit hundreds of hours down to a 20 minute video for everyone to enjoy FOR FREE.

It's all a labor of love.

Well ,

I have done reviews before and Invested and spent my money doing the audio thingy , granted not for free and since I got paid for it , I guess that makes me some kind of a past professional , so I kinda knows what I speak and know where the skeletons lay ...

What now ...?

A reviewer ending up with a product after a favorable review stinks of impropriety , there maybe innocence involved , disclosing their affection and subsequent purchase , is fine , what about purchase incentives and accommodations , should this be disclosed too, unfortunately there's too much history and Please allow me the privilege of an opinion I don't understand why you would attack me like this Mike ...

See above. I was responding to the fellow who asked why reviewers are different.

You asked why reviewers buy products. It's simple: because they like them.

Because all you are doing is casting aspersions without presenting any facts. Unlike Mike who is telling it like it is.

I've heard horror stories from vendors about some "reviewers" who hold products captive for months, if not close to a year for their "review". And what about those "reviewers" who demand a lower price than the heavily discounted price they were already offered.

Not saying all of them are like this, but there's enough out there for me not to trust "professional reviews".

I rarely post on any of the gear-centric boards any more because they are just too snarky. I want to advance my learning, where I can, and not engage in ____ing contests. I think taking the high road is often the best, including whatever is, or isn't happening on WBF. There is obviously room for a variety of views, and different boards, reflecting different philosophies. Re: reviewers, it's all grist for the mill; I'd never buy anything significant without home trial, but the different reviews are often helpful for background, for the interviews with designers, quirks in operation or compatibility, etc.

I've just set back and read comment after comment. So now this thread is heading off into "reviewer " territory. And all along I though it was about Pete offering up an apology. I say move talk of reviews to a new thread, as it gives some odd impressions to newbies doing introductions.

Good point.

Back to the topic at hand...

Pure Conjecture i cast nothing nor did I ask a question or named an accused, I made a statement , who the cap fit let them wear it ...

I do sense where we are going with this , Irony noted and accepted .... :)
