Brand new Evanescence! I have been a huge Amy Lee fan since Evanescence first album released over 20 years ago. She was still a teenager, but her voice was, and still is, amazing! This is their 6th studio album, and I have to agree with the reviews so far. Maybe their best!

Digital download is available now; vinyl double album is not out until September.

Narrow Deep by Mastadon. First album with new guitarist and the addition of a keyboard player, he played keys on some studio tracks now a member. Decent Hushed and Grim is still my favorite album.

Witch by In This Moment. Not bad it's no Beautiful Tragedy though. They left that style in the rear view mirror.

So Much For Goodbyes by Billy Strings. Released Friday 8/28/2026 the highlight of the week.
 
Everyone Gets Everything They Want by Tom Morello

Dropped today and excellent IMO. I haven't really gotten into his solo material before, I plan to retrack some of it to see if I missed anything after hearing this one. It's a mix of bangers and ballads.
 
A couple of evenings ago, the late Michael Tilson Thomas' Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5.

This is an excellent orchestral recording that deserves great reproduction. I think I got it with my system:

The vinyl is actually three sides. The second record has music on one side and a little graphic picture disk on the last, unused side. Excellent album. Rock, sure, Evanescence always has some rock, but with Amy Lees' voice there are always some rather amazing ballads. If anything, her vocals have gotten even better over the past 20 years as has her piano abilities.
