Went shooting today

Thanks guys !!

I like to shoot too. But I appreciate everyone sticking to the rules, that way we stay a family,with no political talk no one gets offended.

Been looking at this little guy myself:

Product: Model 351PD

Would be nice to have a noise maker while out on hikes that can be thrown into either a backpack or holster and not be uncomfortably large. Being .22mag it's not too over the top.

.22 Mag and .22LR have terrible terminal ballistics, there just aren't any expanding projectiles available. So if you needed it for something like a Brown Bear or Mountain Lion, it wouldn't even slow them down.

If you're getting something for a worst case scenario like that, while hiking in the Rockies, I'd suggest a similar size/format revolver in .357 Mag. They're a handful to shoot, but will keep you from becoming bear food.

Sweet firearms gents ...

I already have my next one picked out...well almost...either the CZ P-01 or the CZ P-09 (one is 9mm the other.40)
CZ-USA -> CZ P-01

CZ-USA -> CZ P-09

Leaning toward the P-01 as the 9mm ammo is cheaper/easier to get

You probably mean P-06, not P-09 ... the 09 is the polymer frame gun.

I have a P-06 btw and just love it. There's something about the palm swell of CZ's that just seem to fit everybody's hand perfectly. Even with about 50 pistols, the P-06 still has a special feel to it. The trigger on the gun out of the box is just ok however, a bit long a heavy for my taste. It'll never break like my custom 1911's, but could use some clean up.

Well, actually, I like the 01, the 06 and the 09...I think my LIKE of the P-09 is the 19+1 capacity...YOWSA..Load onces, shoot all day...LOL

But to be honest - I am really loving my Bersa Thunder 380. Very well made. And I know all the stories about how much PUNCH but for home defense I have a mag of Buffalo Bore round always at the ready ...They will stop ANYONE. In the meantime, my target ammo is cheap and the gun performs like a champ.

I do like the 1911's but I'll have to work my way up...9mm, .40, .45...LOL

Two lessons I learned - what the best caliber weapon to carry for self defense

1) The one you are carrying
2) The one you shoot the best with. Big caliber but poor shooting doesn't help :D

No brown bear around these parts. Cats, yes but I've never seen one in person.

The .22mag is plenty for me (and my wife) if / when we decide to get a small carry for our low risk outings.
