Wow!! That is a great looking outlet and cable/plug. Just by seeing it you feel confident it is doing good things for the transport of the electricity that will ultimately effect your music. I love it.

Wish Furutech made an Australian approved wall outlet. The small Aussie market lucks out here.

Steve, would it be illegal to install European outlets if you have the European plugs with that?
If it isn't you could consider ordering both....
Here is a good address where you can find most and order online:
HiFi und Home Cinema und Plattenspieler Zubehör

Yes it is illegal. The wall outlet must comply with Australian Standard AS3112. All electrical devices must be plugged into a wall outlet that complies with the standard.

An approved power distribution device may have outlets of a differing configuration.

You could be refused an insurance claim in an event if your wall outlet is not AS3112 compliant. An Electrician will not install a wall outlet or provide an Electrical Compliance Certificate for an outlet which is not approved for use in Australia.

To all Australian members, if your power board or power distribution device is not approved for use in Australia, your insurance may also not cover you in an event.

For example, I bought Shunyata Hydra products on the representation that the manufacturer has obtained regulatory approval for sale in Australia. There is an authorised Australian distributor and Shunyata products are being sold for use in Australia. The Hydra outlets have a US configuration. I use Furutech Flux plugs/cables that are rated for the device operating at a voltage compatible configuration for use with Australian power supply. These cables cannot be legally used as a direct connection to the supply but I understand that it is OK for such a cable to be used as an umbilical from an approved power board or distributor.

So another idea. What if you would install a power regenerator, i.e. PS Audio provided they would have an Australian approval. This device would be directly connected to the supply. All your gear would be connected to this device. Would you the be able to use in-wall cabling connecting with either EU or US plugs and wall outlets? That would in that case also be just an umbilical right? I think the effect of using such a device is tremendous anyhow...

Do the Furutech covers do anything sonically (obviously they look good)? I'm actually quite surprised at what appears to be the improvement with simply the FPX copper outlets compared to the premium Hubbells they replaced.

I couldn't use the normal Furutech covers with my outlets since I have three duplexes side by side for each dedicated line.

I don't believe there is an issue powering this device from an AU outlet into its IEC inlet provided there is an approved compliance mark as the UK/US device outlets are device/purpose specific umbilicals. That said, I understand that PS Audio are now only shipping AU specific product with AU outlets only for this market/region. They will no longer supply a specification with non AU outlets. I was considering this product but I am heavily invested in umbilicals that have a US plug configuration (Futuech Flux FI-50).

Every outlet sounds different...I've tried many. The one I stayed with is the Maestro outlet. This one is the cleanest, most dynamic, less "hifi" then any of the others mentioned.

All of my components are plugged into a Consonance d-Linear 15 power conditioner. Would there be an advantage to plugging the conditioner into an upgraded outlet? I have my doubts but perhaps someone who has actually tried both would know better.

Which ac outlets have you tried? There are just so many and funds and time are limited! :) And yes, I've heard good things about the Maestro.

Furutech is very good, but most all have their own sound. The one I use is Maestro which doesn't have a sound of its own, yet brings forth lots of good stuff from the wall.
