Wadia Intuition 01 for SF Evos? Opinions? ......

I have now had a few days with the Intuition, here are a few observations that might be helpful.

Running in time is very important. It probably needs about four days to come to life.

Treat it like a high end HiFi component for best results. I played around with various options and this is what I have learnt:
- Power conditioning makes a big difference. I now have it running through a dedicated Quantum QX4 and it makes the world of difference. Do not mix your other components onto the same conditioner. During the first two days I also had the MacMini on the same supply and the vocals were not as well defined. It is now a nice wide stage with pinpoint accurate 3D imaging. For some reason it is very sensitive to dirty power.

- I use Nordost Valhalla speaker cables with the Watt Puppies and the Intuition. It might feel like overkill to do this as the cables are close to the same price as the Intuition, but as I said before this is a serious piece of HiFi. Think of it like you are getting $40,000 - $50,000 of HiFi for the price of $7000, then you can easily justify the extra bits.

I am even more impressed with it than on the first day. Easy to use, easy to install and sounds terrific.

Thank you for sharing! I knew it would be great!

You are welcome, I have not seen much by the way of reviews, so I thought I can at least offer my thoughts. I will be experimenting with better USB cables over the next few days to see if it makes an audible difference.

I have hooked up my turntable on the analog inputs and it sounds surprisingly natural. But I will need to spend more time with the vinyls to really give an opinion. At the moment I have played around mostly with AIFF files, 44.1 and higher bit rate. I have also downloaded a few DSD 128 files, they sound nice, but I can't really comment as I don't know the performances.

There is one glitch to be aware of though, quite a peculiar one! The left / right speaker terminals are swapped around on my unit. Not a big deal as you can easily swap the speaker cables around, but it is quite strange. Don't laugh, but it wasn't immediately apparent to me! The distributor told me that this is something that will be sorted out in the coming firmware upgrade.

Thanks! Do you need a separate phono stage or did the analog inputs handle it someway? I know the Devialet is configurable that way.

That's funny about the speaker terminals! Glad you caught it.

I use a Phono stage on the turntable. I am not certain whether the Intuition will work without one. It would be nice if I can get rid of the phono stage, but it is not critical though. As far as I understand the Intuition is very software driven, so it wouldn't surprise me if it could do without the phono stage.

I have also upgraded the USB cable to a Transparent HPUSB, to my ears it makes a difference. Again, I would be interested to hear what others think.

Hi Nelson,

Apparently not all units have the swapped channel problem. I have one of the first batch units which had this firmware error. They caught it quickly and the new batches are shipping with the correct L/R firmware.

I am glad you are enjoying the Intuition as much as I do. I see you also have a really nice system. It would be interesting to see how the Intuition influences this!

Hi guys,
any new toughts ?
i am planning to use it in a hollidays condo in Miami and looking for opinions.
i was considering entering this new world with some bookshelves or to stay conservative and buy a mcintosh MXA60 with an Aurender w20 once i wouldnt take with me hard midias.

Jimmy - I heard the Wadia Intuition 101 at RMAF. I really liked it. It had a nice sense of ease and not fatiguing at all.

thanks Mike, that is my goal on this "third system" .
Considering the size of my equipment i can't imagine such a small thing delievering 350w.
Any idea of a good matching bookshelf?
i was considering , of i go to that way, the top Joseph Audio or a Verity Amadis( i am not sure if they sell just the upper part).
i am a huge fan of Mc and SF combination but would like to try something different in this third and more casual system.

Stand mount speakers I like are Raidho C1.1 (or D1), PMC and Magico Q1.

I think a pair of C1.1's and the Wadia would be really good.
