Vivid G3 review - ties Alexia for Retirement speaker

Just to clarify! "I couldn't live with them in my family room". I actually could/would if I had to. As for the decor, I think the speakers would dictate the appropriate furniture, etc.

i gotta say the look with the floor color with the wall color and the white trim all go beautifully together. and the speakers look great in there. real nice job!!!!

Mark:

When was the last time we've seen a bad review? I suppose an argument can be made that there is a ton of good gear out there but I'd like a bit less cheerleading.

For example, I've read several sources state the new Porsche 991 GT3 (while an engineering feat) fails to engage one's spirit as much as the prior 997 iteration (some would argue back to the 993). Wouldn't it be refreshing to read a pro audio review that concludes something similar about the newest and greatest amp?

Michael, I agree with what you are saying. When reading reviews I try to read between the lines and get to the core of what they're saying, sometimes that's harder than I would like. But I still find value in reading reviews, especially from a select few writers that tend to like the same type of sound as I do. I at least learn something about the product and then decide if it's something I would like to audition.

Agree wholeheartedly. My comment wasn't directed at you specifically; I was just complaining out loud :eyebrow:. I do that a lot even though it doesn't change much.....haha.

I have had these G2's for just under two years and I wouldn't trade them for but a few other speakers. I am lucky to have had a dedicated music room for the past five years so cosmetics has never even been a consideration when selecting components. That being said, I don't think I could live with them in my family room.

Beautiful.... Every time I look at this speakers. remind me a my fav movie . " Fifth Element"'s Diva :D

I heard Vivids (G1 or G2, don't recall) at Bob's (Absolare) room at the New York Audio Show. I forget which amp he was using but I liked the sound, very palpable and organic. The looks are polarizing though.

I'vr never read a bad review of Vivid speakers. I would love the chance to hear them !
Generally speaking, that is the first sign of a great product, one that is pretty damn special. Even when people know it's not for them but still applaud it, is stating a magnitude for me when I'm researching.

I love the G3. Still recovering from the delightful experience of listening to them paired with Technical Brain amplification two years ago.

Now that he said he would pick the Alexia for his retirement, every subsequent review is going to pale by comparison unless he says something similar.
He could just say he would pick the speakers to be buried with (or in, depending on size).

They are just arriving in France!
They were (G3) in Demo all this week end in Montpellier (where I live) at "Atelier de l'audiophile".
Driven by the new pre Coda 07X and 15.0 amp (100 watts in class A)

It was very impressive!
3D feeling, beautiful stage image, a lot of energy, and amazing voices.
Seems also that you can push them to insane levels without any stress (for them not for your ears...)
"Rite of Spring" with Antal Dorati and the Detroit let us speechless.

Best regards
