Two years lurking is enough

Dan...Thanks. Extremely happy with the performance of the Suder A810. I have since added A820 Transfoless cards in which effectively dropped the gain a little but the output resolution is astonishing. Myles put me onto the Opus 3 samplers recently so I have got the tape bug now!

I think moving the Revox B77 MKII into the studio sounds like a plan especially if you are not producing much from the control room nowadays. :)

Steve.......The only thing holding me back from relocating the Revox B77 MkII to the studio system is unbalanced interconnects. I will need four 5 meter cables to place it where I can squeeze it in. Playing with reel to reel tape takes me back in time to my early hi-fi days. The same is true when I handle vinyl. The nostalgia is comforting.

I haven't been using the Revox in the Control Room for some time. My last recording project was a jazz standards CD I recorded with an artist named Matt Lucas. That was recorded in 16Bit/44.1 on a Mackie analog mixer and Roland digital work station. Once completed and mixed to Matt's and my satisfaction I gave him the un-copy protected Master on disc to duplicate and promote himself. That was early last year. My recording studio (QuarterMoon Studio) has seen a few projects I have recorded for myself but not much more than that lately. Recording live music can be time consuming when everything is taken into consideration. I have had other things occupying my time that have taken precedence over the recording studio so it sits idle. I will get back in there when the mood strikes me.

I liked jdandy - but Double-D is funny enough. Will you continue to moderate at AA? Is this breaking some kind of forum code? Or are you just a loyal hobbiest like the rest of us- you go where the hobby is.

OMG! I just come across the article in the New York Post!

Dan, you're hilarious. :congrats:

Mike...let's just say the article is not about bra size but rather about two 10 inchers at the hotdog stand. :roflmao:

Bill.......Like you, I go where I wish to go. If you haven't figured out by now that I am a serious audio enthusiast, then there's not much else I can say to make it any clearer. Being a mod on AA has nothing to do with my participation on AS or any of the other half dozen forums I regularly visit and post on. I'm just a member here like everyone else. I am not carrying any baggage nor do I wish to have any dumped on me. I have vicariously participated in AudioShark from the beginning and simply decided to join the fun. BTW, Double-D is a nickname I have had most of my life. It is an acronym of my first and last name. Most likely that isn't what you thought. A couple of my close friends haven't called me by my real name in 30 years. I think it makes a refreshing change. Take it for whatever you think it is worth.

Dan, as you know, I have great respect for you. So glad you are here!

Also, I've had the pleasure of chatting with Mike. As you already know, he's top drawer. What a great guy, knowledgable and genuinely helpful. Win/Win

Mike, if I hit another jackpot, I just might locate you a pair of 2301s :)

Dan- I'm just having fun- I am serious as heart attack about audio, so that makes two of us. Thanks to the power of the internet I know your real name and I didn't immediately connect it with a bra size. :exciting: Still, I know that must have crossed your mind in the user name picking directorate. ;)

Good to know that you have noble intentions, I had no ulterior motive - Those were just the questions I wanted to ask. I apologize if my snark and sarcasm didn't meet it's mark.

Both Dan and Mike are some of the biggest fans of Music & Audio Gear. They follow the cavalrymen's credo of "Ride fast, shoot straight and speak the truth." The best advice I have ever received in the last 7ish years is reading their posts or general interactions across the internet. I think this all started on Audiokarma and spread to AudioAficionado and AudioShark. The more the merrier and I hope we all stay connected and share the latest gear or better subjective or objective ways to enjoy music. :hey:

Best,
Bill

I found it odd that the usual new user - Welcome thread got so long so I decided to plow thru it again.

Now I realize who Double-D is. Dan, good to see you here. You helped me out a bunch over at that other site before I was banned under a different name.

Brian.......Thank you. I remember many conversations with you. Good to see you chime in. To me, yesterday's news is ancient history. I'm more of a "be here now" kind of guy. This forum has matured over the past two years and offers a great group of members to converse with, a wealth of audio knowledge, and many other unique insights. Being able to participate rather than be an outsider took me a while. I had to feel comfortable enough to believe my presence here would represent a positive contribution to the forum. So far it has been good.

Dan, I want to reiterate what others have said. We are glad you're here!
Whether or not you participate, or even moderate at another forum is irrelative.

Mark.......

Mike.......

Thank you both. I'll admit I was a bit nervous on day one but I'm feeling fine now. Much appreciated.

This thread is turning into a Introduce Yourself Marathon. . :S

Dan...your reputation proceeds you. You are one heck of a kewl dude! If we all were in the same town/city or even state. There would be a part happen'n!

So Dan...Just to confirm Double-D is simply an acronym of your name and has nothing to do with hot dogs!

I was blown away when I read that story about the dude's memoir, so to speak.:roflmao:
