Turntable Shopping - Need some opinion.

Dev - it's fine - but again, we don't have any proof of speed issues. When I read that statement from Joey Weiss - I thought he was inferring that the original controller motor is quieter. That's what I read anyway. If you read it carefully - that's what it sounds like to me. "...the only way we found out the original controller could be improved....was when we heard the update." That to me sounds like he is saying, the only thing that beat the original controller was the new controller. Why? Was it quieter? Something else? Who the heck knows? I can ask Louis if people are curious.

To my ears - the Kronos was the best table I ever heard. From the instant I first heard it, I wanted it. Heck, I didn't even know what it was when I first heard it - but nothing sounded like it then or since.

Now that's just too :)

What is the top group of the BEST TT on the market?
Has anyone ever had every table in their system at the same time to compare - I don't think so and even if so still would be debatable.

Statement of "No flaws" - who would make such a statement - makes no sense

Dev,
Maybe because of my foreign language I have a limitation on represent my ideas on writing.
So, sorry if I got miss interpreted

IMO =in my opinion , right ?

True, this is very delicate manner.
We have to remember that in our Forum we have many friends that are founders, owners and
Or representers of many brands and is our privilege to have them here. They share there
knowledge and many times updates that many other forums does not have the opportunity to
Have.

That's my 2cents

:)

I do agree to a point but at the same time do you fell it's okay to post a positive and promote product over others out there spending money but if one has knowledge of that differs are you suggesting not to post?

As per my responses, my attentions were not to discredit the product but to just advise and nothing else but now I seem to be having to defend such - so be it.

My responses are my opinion and others may vary.

Mike I really don't want to dwell over this but have to respond, the controller was updated due to speed. As per my other reply have Lous answer those simple questions and please do post.

I know it's your own opinion but how do you know how the table actually sounded when theirs just so much more going on and if it wasn't in your own system and what others tables would you have compared to suggest it's the BEST! I don't believe there is a BEST of anything out there, just different :)

Dev - it is definitely a fine line between opinion and fact. If I state I don't like the sound of something (Rockport speakers for example) - this is just my opinion. But to state something has a functional defect appears more like fact.

I'm all for opinions - believe me. If we know of a product defect then I'm all for discussing those too. Let me give you an example: I used to own a McIntosh MCD1100 CD player and in the manual, it stated the USB DAC in the MCD1100 would work with a Windows or Mac computer. The FACT was that it wouldn't work with a Mac computer - something which was confirmed by McIntosh after hours of frustration by yours truly. Now, today, they have likely fixed this problem, but when it first came out - it didn't work with a Mac and that was a fact and a flaw!

I found it ironic that the Mc wouldn't work with a Mac! :)

Every time I have heard the Kronos - my opinion never changed. It was the best I have ever heard. It pulled more information from the groove and sounded eerily R2R like then any other table I have heard. But I have not had a proper audition with my LP's on he AF1 or some of the other high end tables like the Continuum.

Like speakers we demo in a multitude of environments, comparing 10 different tables in my system is not impossible, but certainly impractical.

Paul - we have officially hijacked your thread. I suggest we get back to helping Paul pick a great table within his budget. :)

Well I just mentioned it Mike from own personal experience, it was so ironic that as the norm blah! blah! marketing and this was one of the strong points being remarked about - just read the first glowing reviews and listeners thoughts. Why did no one pic this up with those golden ears! or at lease mention if they did

When I heard this table for the first time I provided my opinion - sometime after a new speed controller or sensors was now being changed out to correct this but the table had already been out for almost two years. "there is info. on this also but not all that easy to locate" Last show I was at 2013 and still heard the issue, I mentioned it and was told ya we know. So hopefully they have corrected this now, they will be at the show so you will be able to hear for your self.

The one being sold recently at $14K - well there is a story behind that. :)

Not trying to bad mouth - just providing my take on it.

Hi Dev,

I, for one, appreciate hearing peoples thoughts and experiences that they have on various audio components whether they happen to be positive or negative. If it pertains to a product that I have serious interest in, it gives me additional points to listen for when I audition it…and then I can form my own opinion on what is transpiring. But on the other hand, when spending this kind of money (where in this case you can buy a pretty nice car for the same amount) I'd be more than just a little upset if my turntable (whose primary responsibility is to rotate the platter at a precise and accurate speed) can't do it's job.

So kudos to you Dev for telling us what your ears heard!

You know what Mike ? I've been enjoying the read all the posts. I don't have much experience with TT so can't really comment about the issues we have been discussed . But its all good to know :)

Not at all Mike; you simply add another magnificent turntable to his auditioning arsenal/repertoire/search. ...The music, the source ...
And that is exactly what Paul is looking for in his/this thread.

By the way, what is Paul's budget?

Kudos to you Paul! That is also exactly the way I feel; I'm learning from everyone here, and all discussions are good.

Paul, do you truly have a budget? ...I didn't think so. :)

Yup - we all have our biases. ;). I'm sure you can read into that.

Just make sure you decide what is best for you. What you like best.
Angie sells SME - those are good tables to demo too.

Hi No Regrets,

thanks - wasn't trying to discredit just provide actual facts, I had a Kronos in my set-up so I know why there was a new CONTOLLER - it was due to speed - when I placed the SutherLand TimeLine on it - well it just confirmed.

That's was an older model and would think by now has been taken care of - not sure how many actual different controllers configuration there out there and really don't care.

Like some comments made I don't make remarks unless I have actually had the actual product in my own system because otherwise it just doesn't make any sense.

In the end I don't own one because it just was not as remarkable as some may want you to believe but hey do give it a look and listen in your own system - it will only be a $30k plus lesson

There are so many tables out there that can't hold an accurate speed but lets not go there because that's a whole other debate and has been talked to death on a few other forums.

I prefer musicality, laid back and a more relaxed sound than upfront, dynamic, and harder sounding.
I've been told to stay away from the direct drives, Lenco, Gerrard, VPI, Transrotor, and anything with an Acrylic Platter.

Am I on right direction ? :)

Where did you get that info :roflmao:

Well Mike mine is factual, I actually had a Kronos in my system and looking to purchase so I do have first hand experience. I was chuckling when I read your analyses of what you where reading into in relation to what Joey wrote

All is good - it was for the speed to clarify.

I'm sure the latest version is special :woot:

It might be worth your while to listen to some SME tables. Very well built, been in the industry for a very long time and very well respected. They may have the sonic traits you are looking for.
