They look right structure wise, but are there any date codes on the glass or base? The getter flashing is the least amount I have seen on one of these tubes. It looks right though.
Does a WE 422a require an adapter on the Big 7? It has the right pins and partly inserts but not all the way (and I don't want to push too hard).
Just got my new Lite 7, came stock with Psvane 101d white base and 5U4C rectifier tube.
Wanted to know what tubes to roll that would not sacrifice the detail.
Deuter, you are in Australia, no?
There is a lot of good advice out there, but based on your question, the obvious DHT upgrades are the PSVANE WE metal base 101d, the limited edition Lampi/EML mesh Globe 45 and for a cheaper alternative, some vintage 6A3s. If you want to try 300b for sane money, then try the PSVANE UK Design 300B. it must be the UK Design version! The EML normal 45 mesh plate is also excellent and costs 60% less than the globe.
For the rectis, the highly regarded pre-1946 WW2 RCA Jan 5R4GY, the Halton/Fivre/Zaerix/ double Mica 5r4GY, the WE 422a (pricey), the Phillips metal Base GZ34 (kinda pricey), Brimar 5Z4, WE 274b and Takatsuki 274b (both pricey)....among others. I wont get into the hard to find exotica like the STC/Brimar Footscray 5R4...LoL
HereIam in Australia, what excellent advise you referring to ?
Hard to find tubes here.
Can you explain the sound signatures for the tubes recommended.
The rectifier I currently have is the 5U4C from otk, not sure whether I can do much better.
Is there anything you wish more from the sound? Might be able to recommend something from that.
I would like to improve on the air around the instruments, make music sound more open.
Improve the decay of the instruments.
Improve the depth in the soundstage all this without sacrificing the detail.
No One ?
DEFINITELY: Psvane WE Replica 101D

You recon the decay and detail is better compared to the EML 45 Mesh ?
