Transferring Ripped CDs From An External HD To Roon Nucleus

I would think your MSB would have the capability of decoding DSD files. (Check with Mike to be sure). You can download DSD albums from HDTracks, NativeDSD, and more. Then put these in a folder on your External drive just like you did your CD rips. DSD has higher levels just like PCM... DSD64, DSD128, DSD256, DSD512, etc., the same as PCM has 44.1Khz (CD quality), 48Khz, 96Khz, 192Khz, etc.

Sweet! I'm going to check out some albums.

Please verify what level DSD your DAC can work with. In my view, the higher you can get the better. Obviously the selection is less on DSD then other formats, but the ones you find are superb, in my view. I also believe that anything in any level DSD is well worth the listen!

After checking out some DSD albums I can see they're not the kind of albums you purchase by the arm full. They're a little pricey. But years ago I would occasionally treat myself to a direct to disk album. They were also pricey, back in the '70s. But, man, they sounded so good.

Wow! Been listening to my ripped CDs. The streamed music from Qobuz and Tidal sounds really good. But the ripped CDs sound wonderful. They sound just a little more robust and "energized." Maybe slightly more open. Not sure how to describe it. It's just.....gooder! :woot:

Glad you are enjoying it!
Your experience with ripped CDs surmises why CD players and transports are being phased out (disclosure: I have not played my CD player since before the pandemic!)
