The Cluelessness of Dave Gordon of ARC

Since we're shit talking.

Not shit talking

Maybe some are

This thread was started by me, who is amazed at the utter stupidity of the “brand ambassador” of Audio Research, who endorses and supports a person, who Jews like myself find appalling, who supports a person whose economic principles would all but guarantee the demise of an industry he supposedly represents in destroying the wealth of those he supposedly desires to sell his products to.

Shit talking, I think not.

Well, I'm not sure anyone really wants unregulated capitalism. I'd like my water to be clean and the beef I buy at the grocery not to be rancid and I'd like my physician to actually have a medical degree and the wiring in my house be such that it doesn't burn it down. I think it’s the degree of regulation that is the trick, and the chances of reaching agreement on that are exactly zero %. The chances that there are people on this forum who believe they know to a metaphysical certainty what should be done is about 100%. On we go.
The bait and switch routine I see

So El-Sayed and his ilk defining “excesses of capitalism” and “regulating capitalism”by indiscriminately targeting those by wealth, success or whatever metric is their flavor of the day, to garner the power they so desire in leading THEIR revolt against those forces that has led the country to the amazing success it has achieved, is analogous to the rational rules and regs of how we wire our homes, license our doctors and monitor our water supply.

Lmao.

Long and short. As long as Dave Gordon is “brand ambassador” for Audio Research, I will never buy another product of theirs and will NEVER recommend one either.

I don't get anything antisemitic from the post in question.

I agree it's not wise to mix or reveal political views in public if you represent a business. Even many famous people fell into that trap.

After reading the post I didn't see what the uproar is about. It is a fact that medical monopolies are causing medical costs to rise. It is a fact that privatizing prisons made them much worse. The current admin lifted the limit on how many media stations a corporation can own. My impression it's this type of actions the person doesn't agree with. The writer specifically mentioned he wasn't against Capitalism. If honest anyone should be able to admit our version is not perfect. It's greed that makes it that way.

Looks to me like the OP took the post as a reason to rant about DSA. I just didn't see the offense in the post in question.

If honest no matter your political affiliation you should recognize the gap between the "haves" and "have nots" is widening. The stock market is good but if you aren't so rich that you might do your own shopping you realize how outrageous prices are. In many markets housing for sale is down and rent has skyrocketed. People were promised by the current president these things would be addressed but they have gotten worse. I may not agree with some of the choices of those who follow DSA I can certainly understand their frustration.

DSA like a lot of things is taken out of proportion and everyone is stereotyped. Some take the most radical statements, and there certainly are some, then paint the entire movement as such.

As someone here pointed out it appears there is a need for research, fact finding and critical thinking for candidates. As well as all of us.

so how do we know which are taken out of proportion and which are not? Are you for changing our entire form of government? Getting rid of the Senate? defunding the police, ending foreign aid, end economic blockades? getting rid of the President and Supreme court?nationwide rent controls? imposing heavy taxes on the wealthy and large corporations?
Personally I have found in life that when someone tells you who they are and what they believe you might want to listen and believe them

Talk about “shit talking”. You like so many are claiming fact which is nothing but bullshit. Medical monopolies? Name one other than government provided healthcare which is a DISASTER. Now if you want to discuss the ever decreasing number of insurers as a result of government social engineering and fee manipulations forcing mergers and acquisitions leading to “for profit” hospitals and limited # of insurers I’m game, but recognize the culprit. Privatization of prisons made them worse. Hysterical.

Funny you quote the same leftist BS of the haves and have nots as the rest. For all the “disparity” there has NEVER been a time in our history where the lower quartile of the American public have had as much mobility to move into the highest quartile as today. And not to simplify the point, but since you seem to enjoy simple,, how wealthy was Bezos, Brin, Musk, Zuckerberg, etc before they became so wealthy? Name one other country, where there is as much mobility as the US? There is none. For sure none that endorse the principles of El-Sayed or his ilk. Lmao. Yeah those communist countries or Muslim countries with all their mobility. They had to come here to achieve what they achieved. The EU gimme a break. Not even close to the mobility of the USA

El Sayed is anti-Semite who campaigned with the most vocal of antisemites namely Hassan Piker and if you don’t recognize his antisemitism that’s on you. If a Brand Ambassador of Audio Research chooses to quote him it’s on him. This Jew and many like me will never buy another product from ARC as long as this nitwit is their brand ambassador

Your points are simple and hyperbolic.

Buy whatever you like, that’s your business. My comment had nothing whatsoever to with El Sayed. Didn’t mention him at all.

I simply said that I don’t know many people who want pure unregulated capitalism. Do you agree?

I wasn't referring to your original post, but some of the tangental comments in posts by others that followed. Plus, it was mostly a segue into the video.

I will admit I know very little about this fellow running for the Senate in Michigan and wouldn’t in any event, have any interest in getting into a debate about the Senate race in Michigan. I will reiterate my agreement with what I thought was your original point. If you are in the business of selling something and you think the world can’t live without a recitation of your political views, social media is a very enticing form of rat poison. I think your post makes the point very well, when you do that and your potential customers are watching you are going to have fewer potential customers. Maybe Mr. Gordon didn’t think of that or maybe he doesn’t care, that’s his business and no one would suggest that he doesn’t have a right to say whatever he wants.
It doesn’t really matter which side you are on there’s a big part of the country that vehemently disagrees with you. Nobody is going to change their mind because of what they read on Facebook- or a form like this one.. So, I agree with what I thought was your point- from a business standpoint, particularly these days, mixing politics with selling is a dubious proposition.
I can speak for me and maybe even go out on a limb a little bit and suggest that most others probably feel the same way. I’m interested in what people on this Audio forum think about Audio, what their experiences are and what might be learned from them. I don’t give a damn about their political views. I’m quite sure they don’t give a damn about mine. And I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that that’s true of most of the people engaged in discussions about Audio.

Socialists to the left of me fascists to the right and I’m stuck in the middle with…, well hell, there’s almost nobody left in the middle. Just a little music humor. I know, very little.

No offense - your past posts belie that you're not nearly as "in the middle" as you think.

That's ok and that's your right. Just be honest about it.

Not pointing fingers some on this thread are hard right, one might say MAGA cultists. From there everything is left. Even the center. Hence, RINO. You're either with me or against me type of thing.

I actually have a friend in the cult when we get together it's just music and audio avoiding politics.

No offense, but I think the extremes of both ends of the spectrum are more alike than different and I don’t subscribe to either. I think it is very dangerous that we’ve reached a point where principled compromise seems impossible. That’s what our nation was built on and just about every clause of the constitution, which we claim to revere, was a political compromise. Some of them pretty unwise but a compromise nonetheless. It’s a lot more popular these days just to sit behind a keyboard and throw out insults at people who hold a different opinion.

met Dave several times over the years, always great to talk to. Even took care of me on an out-of-warranty issues some years back.
So? Lmao. Great. From my perch he should be dumped as “brand ambassador” But glad you found him great to talk to. I think he has no circumspection and couldn’t be a worse “brand ambassador” for a company struggling to survive

Your soapbox response has nothing to do with what I posted.

Yes they was my point.

However, you went on to make some analogy about what Gordon was embracing in El-Sayed’s economic mantra about regulated capitalism which is MUCH different than that which you went on to analogize with home wiring, doctor licenses and food. When we do that we whitewash what this miscreant wants which is VERY different than what you stated.

Nope. I didn’t refer to El-Sayed in any way. You are mistaken. I simply stated my opinion that very few people would want to live with pure unregulated capitalism. Do you agree?

Ahhhh......another slip. 'Unregulated capitalism'..... the language of the DSA and extremism.

If you keep repeating it do you fool yourself into thinking you are one?

Why spend so much time pretending to be center? Just be honest with your beliefs. You have a right to them.

I'm sorry you missed the point. If you want to compare old posts, you might review yours and count the times that you demean people with whom you disagree. Its the internet and you can behave as you wish. I doubt that your political observations-or mine-are of much interest to many people on an audio forum. I think you have some interesting observations concerning audio matters. I just don't understand why its necessary to refer to people as nitwits or idiots or worse

well, let me ask you directly. Do you favor unregulated capitalism? I do not. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that does, at least until now.
I’ll have to admit I’m not familiar with this language that you refer to but it’s a straightforward question.

You’re double talking. My OP was in reference to El-Sayed and his idiotic commie principles which the brand ambassador of ARC chose to support who referred to regulated capitalism SO excuse me if you were referring to something different

Not worried about what you think of me nor capitalism.
