It won't happen, but even if it were to happen... you realize that Canada is much larger than the United States? They currently have 10 providences and 3 territories. At the very least there would be 13 states coming from Canada.
 
Veering off of Tariffs but it might be fun to actually do the thought exercise on what the results of coming together might be.

Not sure I see 13 new states given the low populations of some of the providences and territories but maybe.

How would the politics of the USA change? Image 13 new states, 26 new senators, who knows how many Representatives. In general, what are the politics of those areas?

My guess is that Ontario and Quebec are on the liberal side but am not sure. My gut tells me such a move would not be good for the Republican Party, but again I don’t know.
 
One province (if that's what they are called) had some sort of vote, or has a vote coming up to seceed from Canada already. At least, that is what has been reported...

Ain't going to happen, though. As our new PM apprised the President, Canada isn't for sale. From time to time various prominent American have had the whimsical notion of annexing Canada. Canadians have resisted the idea since the invasions of 1776 and 1812 and will continued to do so. 👍

It's Alberta, and it will possibly be a future vote if there are enough signatures on the petition.

It's true too the the province of Quebec had a referendum on its independence a few years ago that was defeated.

Albert may have such a referendum, but meanwhile the treat of secession there is more of a bargaining threat against the Liberal Party federal gov't to extract more advantages from Canadians in general.

If you are talking new states, please don't forget those that are already part of the US. Washington DC, which has a larger population than some states deserve to have representation in congress, which they currently do not have. Puerto Rico votes in our elections and its population has been US citizens for some time now. They 100% deserve representation in Congress. Not going to mention Guam, Virgin Islands, etc., as of yet.

Basically Trump accomplished in 3 weeks what no one in America has been able to do in 30 years - a global reset on countries screwing the US on trade since the disastrous Clinton NAFTA..

No one else (fake Republican's like Bush and Democrats) were even honest enough to have the discussion before now.

Instead the phony intellectuals (my mother in law is one of them) would dishonestly cry "you can't speak that way to people in the world because no one will like us". Who cares. The world has been laughing at us. Look at the hundreds of millions of dollars uncovered by DOGE being sent to countries for transgender opera's and similar crap.

Screw that. All we've done is show weakness and they've taken advantage of that.

Please enlighten us. What "reset" are you talking about? Other than imposing higher tariffs than before on imported goods to the United States, I don't see any other meaningful "reset." Bottom line, you will have to pay more for your consumption. Is that what you have in mind?

I can take a stab at this question but may not be exactly what Michael had in mind.
First, I don't know where you live or what news/information you pay attention to, but there is a huge reset going on in several sectors of the US and Globally to follow.

1- Resetting to Common Sense and Sanity
2- Resetting the price of Meds we pay in the US as we have been subsidizing all the lower prices charged in other countries
3- Resetting all the Trade agreements so the US again is not being ripped off to make things cheaper for everyone else
4- Resetting away from the Central Banks and Money that is not backed up by anything and can just be printed at will and sent to NGOs and other countries for laundering
5- Resetting Science with all the truth and studies coming out about the covid shots, masks, 6 feet, and Ivermectin
6- Resetting the US Military by weeding out all the confused and mentally challenged people who don't know if they are Male or Female
7- Resetting the US Food industry to remove all the bad crap that the same manufactures omit from the same products sold in other countries
8- Resetting the Judicial system to once again follow the Constitution and Laws already in place

I could keep going but if you have not already noticed the 8 things above, I would just be wasting my time typing more.
