Anybody on this forum who didn't think this thread was destined to be a train wreck rode the little yellow bus to school everyday.

Actually it has not been as bad as expected and at times a good discussion. Like rbbert said, discuss the actions and not the person and it might remain civil.

Some people are taking the Tariffs and what is being said about them without considering it is all part of the tactics to have the US level the playing field a bit. There were something like 175 countries with Tariffs on the US. Whether the administration blinks or backtracks here or there, the overall intent and outcome will be positive for the US.

I sympathize with those in MFG and Sales of imported products in this short term dilemma. But as a Consumer of not just Audio gear, I am thrilled with the projected outcome where I have more money in my pocket after each paycheck due to lower or no taxes. Or in a few years when SS stops being taxed. I am also all for Made In America and America First. The extra money in my pocket should offset a possible higher price for American Made Products. The Art of the Deal is happening in real time.

As you have pointed out, there's no way this thread wouldn't go off the rails. But if you think my comments were political, you didn't get what I was saying as I specifically avoided being political, believe it or not.

One thing I've noticed in discussion such as these is the source of 'news' is apparently always suspect. Put another way, its hard for many people to really know what is going on. Since the removal of the Fairness Doctrine by the Reagan Administration, its been legal for networks to say their programs are news when they really are just opinion. This has led to a divisive situation in the US that has evolved in the last forty years.

I've found personally that Occam's Razor, as I mentioned earlier, is a useful tool for winnowing thru the BS. My example of the 2020 election wasn't political on that account, it was merely factual as everything I mentioned is easily verified.

Now you may nevertheless think that it was political, so if that is the case I have questions: if a fact says something most people would think is bad about a politician, is the fact political or merely a fact? Also, if facts are presented in a news article, does that cause the article to appear slanted, or is it merely factual? Both of these questions have one word answers: fact or ...?

This is where watching too much propaganda blinds some people. The "Person" is doing exactly what the majority of the people asked him to do. America First. It is only a small minority that still controls the main stream media and we have already seen the proof and watched the hearings to know that they get paid with our tax money to lie to the people. What is being destroyed is the corrupt system created by the Central Banks and FED to endlessly print money and keep the debt high and take our money.

You keep mentioning Project 2025 but did not answer when questioned about Project 2030 which was started first and no matter how it reads, it is about a digitally controlled society living in 15 minute cities where everything is electric and can be shut off whenever.

I do not support or abide by any political party, political agenda, or left/middle/right leanings. I do my best to judge each vote I cast by what I can ascertain the person stands for.

I believe that all human beings are created equal and should be judged by their actions. I believe all persons deserve to be treated with respect. All persons no matter what their country of origin, what race, what color of their skin, what religion they choose to practice (or none if they so choose), what sexual orientation, etc., should be treated equal, and given the exact same opportunities. I believe in education and science.

I also believe that large donations to political races should be outlawed. No person, no matter how wealthy they are should be allowed to influence elections through their donations (buy elections). In this matter I belief that the UK has been doing it much better.

For the last time... do not throw out snarky comments and/or insults. It is fucking ridicules to have to request this, yet again.

It was pretty simple. You do not agree with the direction the Person is taking the economy but you will go along for the ride. The ask was that if you don't like the direction, you stay with the current economy, taxes ans prices of everything while the rest move forward and enjoy lower taxes and American Made Products.

But, yes, he did win the vote... but that is hardly a mandate to completely change how the United States works through executive actions and definitely does not give anyone the right to ignore court orders up to and including the Supreme court orders.

How can you say what you wrote in your numerous posts isn't political when you are calling out Trump by name and trashing his policies?

Also, what/who is your source for information that farmers are selling their seeds and machinery because of Trump policies?

I am not talking about the previous office holder. I was not a fan, but at least he does understand what working class families go through. He was one of the only holders of that office who was raised in a working class household, in Scranton PA (not a hot bed of wealth). Most others were born with a silver spoon in their mouth (as the saying goes) and have little to no understanding of what working Americans go through. A large swath of Americans work pay check to pay check and these changes are far from their ability to weather through.
