Question for those who have heard both. I am curious. Stereo amp???? Centaur mk1 or the new Taurus? My system is Vandersteen Quatro CT and will soon be The Memory Player server, streamer and integrated DAC (totally new one, not their former one). They built in a high quality analog volume control into it also along with its separate power supply etc.. Audioquest WEL balanced interconnect and probably the soon to be released AQ Firebird speaker cables.
I have read a bit and spoken to a few who have quickly auditioned both and have mixed thoughts. I'll need to audition myself before making any decisions, but thought I'd throw it out there. Also, you said it doesn't use the normal cord input. How in the world can you use an after market power cord? Thanks
Pete
The mk2 or series like the Taurus (built on the mk2 platform) are a big step up over mk1. Constellation told me they doubled many of the components. So, for me, there’s no mixed thoughts. The mk2 or Taurus/Inspiration are complete.
The power cord is a 20amp IEC. No big deal.
To me, current Constellation amps, along with their superb preamps, are the amps we dreamed about for years: a solid state amp that sounds like tubes, that doesn’t get overly hot (like class A) and is made in the USA.
