Suncoast Audio welcomes Constellation Audio

Did you guys see the Stereophile review in the Oct issue of the Centaur II Stereo? Atkinson said was one of the best amps he’s ever heard!

I’ll admit, when the first Constellation amps came out about 5 or 6 years ago, I loved the mids and highs, but wasn’t sold on them. This new stuff (including series II stuff) is as good as anything I’ve ever had, including D’Agostino. The Stereophile review this month confirmed what I was hearing. I just LOVE how the bass is seamlessly integrated with the mids and mids with highs. The bass never gets muddy, but it’s there and rattles your ass, but the mids stay just beautifully in tack with such fleshy liquidity.

Yeah, it sounds really good.
Is this kind of "full" and "liquid" sound that i´m looking for.
But this stuff is not for my wallet. :(
I´l keep on trying hunting with cat, since i do not have the dog...
But is good to know that there is a real pot of gold at the end of the rainbow...

Congratulations. I love Constellation Audio

(about you tube videos: if the camera is not good, the result is surely trash.
If we have a good camera, even so, we can´t add anything that is not there, so a live audition can only be better)

Mike, just wondering if you have heard the Hercules II and if so, what are the most significant differences between it and the Centaur II? I haven't come across any reviews comparing the 2 amps in the same system or comparing the Hercules II to Dart 458 or CH Precision M1. Many thanks

I don’t know. Never heard the Hercules II. I have heard the M1’s when I was considering CH Precision. I really wanted to like them. Just wasn’t my cup of tea. Very dry for my liking. YMMV. I’m certain the Dart is stellar, I’ve heard their integrated and stereo amp and it’s right up my ally.

Wow Mike, that system looks great and sounds even better. Amazing sound for a YT video. What music was that?

Thanks. The song was Bill Frisell's Shenandoah from Good Dog Happy Man

That was quick Mike! I bet they sound fantastic.

The newly improved Constellation amps (series II and new amps like the Taurus) are on another planet (no pun intended) from the first amps they launched with a number of years ago.

The Constellation sound is so tube like. In this month’s TAS, JV mentions Constellation as one of the top best. I can see why.

The direct connect from the Constellation preamps to the amps adds another level as well. U.S. made to boot! [emoji631]

How would I summarize their sound? “Tube like”.

Hi Mike, any integrated that is good? Like Diablo 300.

I haven’t heard it, but I’ve been talking to Mark Jones (dealer in Toronto) and he brought in a demo Constellation integrated and really likes it. However, we both know, the Diablo 300 is incredible. I have a LOT of integrated amps and the Diablo 300 along with the T+A PA3100HV are the best SS integrated amps I’ve heard.

Nice , what other speakers have you tried then on ..... ?

None. Rick thinks I need to bring them home to try on the AG’s. I have a pair of Duo XD’s coming to the store in a month, so maybe I’ll wait.

Mike, if you could connect a preamplifier Audio Research to a Constellation amplifier, your opinion on how it compares to a Constellation preamplifier would be very interesting.

Many thanks for sharing. May I ask what size is your room and what approx dB level to tend to play at when recording? Many thanks and enjoy this great system.

Sure. This is the front room, which is 17 x 25. DB level would be high 80's at the listening position. It's not overly loud.

Hi Mike, many thanks for the feedback and for posting the great videos. Happy listening.
