No clue...Just ordered 2 sets. Want to try on CD player first and will try them on speakers. I think it can handle my speakers (200 lbs each )
Congrats BlueMcintosh, you will really be amazed at the difference you will hear. I have read from several folks the sound changes depending on where you place them under various components. Try moving them around under the components then listening. Also try using 3 then 4 (i did not notice much difference with 3 vs 4 so I just use 3 and get more systems with StillPoints under them). I might recommend putting them first under your amps and see what the difference is. Next, if you have a Line Stage Pre Amp try them there, putting them under the power conditioner may yield surprising results just by itself. You will probably end up adding another set much sooner than you originally planned because they are addictive. I'm looking forward to hear what your findings are, so let us know the minute you get them. Congrats again.

Love my VA's! The StillPoints really made them much more controlled and sweet on the bottom end! Tightened everything up nicely and released their full potential. Made a great speaker exceptional! I can only imagine what yours must sound like!

Good to hear. Are you using the Ultra SS under your speakers ?

Here's one from 12 months back....

Kev, just curious. Does Stillpoint recommend using their devices under the feet of the component or under a different position? I know some companies say to use them in a different spot from the factory installed feet to get the most out of them. Maybe it's a non-issue with the Stillpoints.

No, is recommend it direct at the chassis .

The factory most of the time install
The foots for convenience on looks and not because it helps isolated the vibrations.

Play around the chassis and find the
Sweet spot to install the Stillpoints

Thanks Nelson. You Da' man! :)

The only other thing I will add to what Nelson has said is that there is a small but noticeable difference if the Ultra 5's are direct coupled to the bottom of the speaker instead of just sitting the speaker on top of the 5's, although this does make a big difference from not using them to just sitting them on top to hear the difference as well. In that respect I would be interested in trying them direct coupled to amps/pre/source etc to see if it is an improvement.

That's right Kev,
When I do Demo is easier not to screw them but I highly recommend it to do it .
Most of the time I included them for free on the order as a gift.
That way they don't think is me trying to make more $$.

:)

Olskool - I'm glad to hear the SS's are so good. They seem to be the sweet spot in the line up.

I have a question for all of the Stillpoint fans out there. Some of the folks in one of my local audiophile clubs think we are nuts. They say they achieving similar results with products like these: McMaster-Carr

I would love to hear from someone here who has compared these products with Stillpoints.

I have tried products like these: 1.5" Sorbothane Hemisphere Rubber Bumper Non-Skid Feet with Adhesive 50 Durometer - 4-Pack:Amazon:Home Improvement

and quite frankly, they did nothing. Stillpoints work BIG TIME. But I want to know if anyone has found a DIY type product that works as well as Stillpoint. :skeptical:

Mike, have any of your club buddies tried the Stillpoints? I don't ask sarcastically, I'm just wondering what their frame of reference is.

I don't think so, but that is a fair question. I know we still have the "cables don't matter" members too. We are all a funny bunch aren't we?

Anthony - what tubes are you using in your SLP-05? I just ordered some Psvane TII's 6SN7's (181-Z's) for mine. I have 1940 RCA's, 1950 Sylvania's, EletroHarmonic and 181-Z Treasures (which don't fit due to the large base). My 1940 RCA's are my favorite, but they are all starting to go. I have 10 and 8 are still working ok....but on the tester they aren't hanging in there. 74 year old tubes! Wow.

Mike, I bought a set about two years ago to replace the stock tubes, but I can't remember what they are. I'll check when I get home and let you know.

Nelson, how are the Stilpoints arranged under your Ref 150? Are they screwed in?
