SR HFTs

Hello Jim,
Was that really the suggestion for the first set?
Have you not tried the "level 1" positioning as suggested in the instructions that came in the package? For me that was the start of an exciting journey.
I have up to level 3 with the FEQ.
not finally installed, I think there are some improvement to do yet.

I have actually found two completely different "level 1" suggestions from SR on the web. I found a second one where all of the units are on the front wall.

FWIW Jim, when Ted Denney visited to install my HFTs, he started with five on on the front wall and we listened to a track of my choosing over and over (while he removed and re-installed them). Enjoy your experiment; I look forward to your comments.

Hello Michael,
That's the level 1 I have used. All five on the front wall. Two of them a bit lateral to the speakers outer side with the lower in the level of the tweeters and the other one two feet above.
the fifth central one I have lowered approx. 100mm below the tweeters.
this is the setup I have tried at my friends homes with jawdropping effect.
One has allready bought one package, One has it on his shortlist.

I now have both sets installed so they match the instructions for Level 1 & Level 2. My concerns are that two sit between GIK panels, one sits next to a panel and 2 sit right next to the echo busters that are in the corners behind my speakers. I have no idea what the impact is on the functionality of the devices.

Jim, Did you do enough listening of your system after your new grounding rod was installed to do an A/B comparison with the HFTs being the only incremental change?

Not really. Everything happened all at once. I returned the D'Agonstino integrated amp I was auditioning, they installed the new panel and ground and I injected the HFT's. That is one reason I will listen for about a week before removing all of them and seeing if I notice a difference.

My first thoughts after adding the second set last evening is that I like it a bit less than just with the initial pack. More listening today.

There are too many things going on at once. You need to get everything set up because at this point you have several variables running at once and no review of the product is possible.

After you have everything wired and installed, take down the HFT's and listen to your system for a week so you can become accustomed to how it sounds. Then put the HFT's back up and let us know what if any difference there is.

I'm going to hate myself for this, but, I agree with Gary.

Guys,

If you go back to Posts 117 & 126 you will see that is exactly what I said. I am going to leave them in for awhile then remove them to see if I hear any differences.

Totally agree.

It doesn't look at all the same since the HFT are passive devices with no electrical connections at all.

Paul, I just got some, and my preamp just lost a channel. I'll know more in a couple of weeks.

Why have they not yet suggested putting them just in front of your ears, or on your forehead? Surely a version is forthcoming? Maybe stick one to your chin? The tip of your nose?

Is there a sonic difference to the red ones? Does it matter if the moon is full, or if perhaps its high tide? Everybody knows they sound better in the dark.

I do see a nasty lawsuit coming though if some little kid chokes on one of these things! Are there warnings on the packaging?

Sorry, my skepticism is showing.

I haven't tried these new ECTs. At first glance they appear to look identical to the HFTs with just some anodizing to set it apart.

As I've mentioned, Ted Denny applied HFTs to the circuits and mechanical parts inside my Aurender unit and on my USB cable in addition to my room. While my personal experience with the HFTs (placed in my room) runs counter to the bantering herd of skeptics and naysayers (who have never tried the HFTs, or even seen one for that matter), I will say that the HFTs on my cables and Aurender provided negligible to no change. I asked my dealer to remove the ones on my electronics before sending me my tab. I love SR, but I don't think these ECTs will be making it into my system anytime soon.

Unless a home demo surprises me that is...

I heard on another forum that they also have a black colored version that acts as a bass trap. Seriously.
