Count me in David! Saw her in concert late last year with my wife and it was one of our favorite concerts of the year. #1 for her I think. Not only a beautiful voice with great songs, but a great stage personality. Think Myles was at the same concert or the one the night before.
Have you seen Sarah in concert, David?
Yes, because I make a lot of deposit wish Harrah's I got front row center tix at the Lake Tahoe Venue last year. And, ugh... I love her. I have the craziest crush on her! Obsessively, I have purchased all her records, CDs [duplicates], singles, posers, gawd... everything. She rocks my world.
Haha, very cool! Sinead O'Connor is my muse. That was concert #1 for me and #1 on my bucket list! Same here, all her albums, singles, collaborations, magazine interviews, etc. She's outspoken, a bit out there, but the voice of an angel IMO.
Sinead Black Albums? Oh oh, I feel the need to scour the internet to find these now! What are they?
Yes, I do have that version of JITR. It's hilarious, and a bit over the top.
What I do like are her collaborations with different artists. But we can get into that on another thread. This is about Sarah!
btw, which pressings do you find are the best? I see some Classic reissues still available at a decent price. How do they compare to say the latest AP/QRP pressings?
i too am a fan. Saw her in 1994 in denver at the ogden theater for her fumbling towards ecstacy tour. A buddy of mine said he had tickets and at the last minute, i agreed to join him. I wasn't a fan before hand, but have been ever since.
Funny story about that night....
After the sarah show, we decided to prowl around downtown denver and hit a club / bar or two. As we were driving into the core of downtown, my friend said, "hey is that all nude strip joint still down there off 15th?" i don't recall the name of the place, but it was about as seedy a place as you can imagine. As we walked in, there was a gal dancing on the platform buck naked and doing her gyrations and all the other nasty stuff you can imagine. My buddy froze in his tracks as we approached the chairs surrounding the platform. He elbows me and says, "dude, that's my cousin jennifer!!!, we gotta get outta here". At just that point, the club dj comes over the mic and says, "lovely, lovely, lovely, let's hear it for jenny with a "g"!!!"
i knew he wasn't lying. Just then jenny (or genny) see's my buddy and jumps off the stage and runs to him barely covering herself with a robe, "derek!!! How have you been, how's uncle bob and everyone?"
i still laugh about that episode....
The recent release of a number of her albums on LP has me confused, because they are supposedly from analog masters yet almost certainly many if not most (not all) of these were originally recorded only to digital. Regardless, her music is often enchanting, even if eventually repetitive.
Solace is not mastered digital. I believe this has been discussed before on another forum.
