S.E.T. - I am obsessed now ....

Life's too short guys. Live and let live. Everyone's opinions are valid and offer up a point of view. What's not cool is the negative tone and dismissiveness that some like to use in making their points. It's all good. As Joe said, there's a lot of negativity out there and on other forums. Let's try to keep AS a positivity zone

Gera hugger or gear swapper, tubes or SS, blah vs blah...it's all useless mental mastur...what's important is that we are enthusiasts (whether it's reaching a stable reference sound or constantly searching for it and everything in between) and that this forum is a place for us all to share experiences/knowledge/questions/impressions/etc...in a respectful and fun way.

Peace out.

I think he had a wonderful combination with said LM-219 IA and the SF Evos, and merely wanted something different, as most guys seem more content in just buying stuff, instead of enjoy components that form a greater sense of interacting with one another in a synergistic manner - I mean aren't most building these days equipped with Central Air?, excuses, excuses, excuses.

Lest I'm wrong, shall we see how many amps he goes through by lets say next June at best..........., I mean it's fine and dandy to have the means to buy the nicer toys and all, but what about forming a system that as I'm fond of putting it " clicks ", and just ride it out until something breaks, but then I guess that takes away from the fun of buying stuff simple because one is able to afford it.

My humble little $18.900 system takes me to distant shorelines in regards to being able to enjoy my jazz collection ( 98.8% ), and the rest of my music all over the place, and plays everything I throw at it equally as responsive, in what world does one live that can't be happy with a system that doesn't dictate to its owner, what it's going to play?, or not?, to my mind that's such BS!, it's a known fact - tubes produce freaking heat................, but more importantly is the manner they produce " Music ". Some guys just don't freaking get it............., but I do enjoy sitting back and laughing my behind off watching the collectors of boxes/components try for years and years to figure this very simple shite out, and some never seen to be able to admit it's not about the music for them in the least - it's the status of being able to say - look at what I own............, instead of listen to how well matched my system evolved and how musical it sounds!.

I've never been much for humor, as I was always a very serious - uptight sort by nature, but of late I'm laughing my arse off just sitting back and counting just how many guys don't get it!, it produced to much heat my ass, if the systems " clicking " leave it along.

All of this to say what?. Joe - Mike - Jerome - Doug - Mick Wolfe - Byron, and a few other of you get it.............., if I'd afford say items as the LM-219 IA and said SF Evo ( Graphite ) with a nice table or music server, I'd be done for what's left of my days on the planet just buying music and tubes.............., but it's harder for me to just see the sort of behavior where some never seem to find happiness with what they've put together already - shite if you took the time to match the pieces together from the start then it'd have been a much simpler task.

Re-learn how to listen to the Music, listening to components be damned.

There, it's off my chest, and while some my say I'm a trouble maker by singling them out - haven't some attempted to do the same with me?, I've always tried to be the voice of logic, and see music lovers get it right, and Joe this one is meant for you.............., you've gotten it right, and seem to be enjoying the hell out what you're hearing at this very moment from what I've seen, then ask yourself this - isn't it good enough to live with it as is?, or does the need for change ever seize?.

Dig deep within, you'll know what I'm getting at - enjoy the music, enjoy life, it's a passion, not an obsession.

Try to relate to what feels/sounds right, and step away from the table with your pride intact.

Yeah Bro!...you know I getting 100%!

I really appreciate everyone looking out for me. We have a great community here and I hate to see strife, there's too much in the world today. Audio, music and gear is a way for me to get away from it. Oscar, you know I appreciate the concern and I am so grateful for all the knowledge you've shared. David, Mark, Bruce, Mike and others, I love you like brothers, actually more because we get along better :) Ha! Back to SET !!!!!

Much respect Joe.

Peace in the Middle East, and all over the world as quiet as it's kept.

And, you know this.........., Man.

Truth.

And I must admit....I was laughing my behind off reading some of that! But its all cool now. After being here at my desk, falling asleep from the Cardinals game last night, I needed that laugh to wake me up.

Valid points on all counts, and I'll try harder to control the beast within, but I'm one of those sorts that's best left alone - even at the age of 56, I still love fighting, it's just in my nature to defend myself and seeming that I'm not a track star, I don't run away from people trying to start stuff, when I'm in fact a finisher.

But that's the olde me, so let me be the cultured person my parents raised me to be.

Peace out indeed. My bad.

I'm glad I was entertainment for you, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - hell, what's funny?. ( got you ). If only I could laugh at something's instead of taking them so personal!, God help me. But it's because of Brothas like you and my wife, there are times when my rage is silenced.

Thanks for getting to know the real me, not just as someone whom tries to keep in real on forums, but someone whom actually talks to me on the phone, and understand I'm passionate about this stuff, yet am overly opinionated at times, but I mean no one any harm in merely speaking my mind, I'm just me - dig me as I am, or stand aside, it's that simple.

Peace little Brotha.

Hi Keith

I don't but wish I did. There was someone in CA selling one cheap earlier this year. I get conflicting prices so I'm not sure of actual value.

It was recommended very highly to me.

Do you have one incoming? almost picked up a used 845SE a year or two ago...should have darn it.

I think I saw that one- didn't have remote as I recall. Some do.

The Mastersound is beautiful as well- but the big one has 4 845s, which is an oven in our rooms :) I've heard the Vivas- but although only at shows. Bit too creamy for my taste.

The Italian 845s are all quite beautiful.

I heard the Viva Solista earlier this year but did not realize what I was hearing. Now I'm hooked. I have been thinking about the Mastersound, Viva, and even the Cary 805AE amps. What are your thoughts on the Cary 805AE?

i almost bought master sound 300b monos before i bought the cary 300b's. but the guy was super slow at returning messages and i got aggrevated and bought the carys instead. but i been eyeballing this baby on ebay. mmmmm mmmmmm i love this thing.lol. 24w i believe 24 w from 300b's will run just about any speaker. especially ones with sensitivity in the 88 and above.

I prefer Audion to Cary at the same price level.

petro- think Dale @ Eugene Hifi had a MS 300B demo around for sale.

What is it you think can be better than the LM? One of the things I do agree with Oscar on is to let the LM break in and enjoy it. I think you would have to spend many times it's cost to better it. Slow down and wait for the 40.1's to arrive before you do anything else. You have plenty of different amps to play with till then.

Thank you Jack,

I will. Hopefully the 40.1's will be here soon. I heard there was a big delivery recently so I hope mine are in the mix, not that I need them. :)

I don't know if there can be improvement on the LM, it's the unknown I guess. I think there has to be something better, but I realize, not really. The LM is awesome and a friend is sending some 300B and 845 tubes to me so I am excited about that. For me, there seems to be enough power with the LM @ 24 wpc. The 50 wpc of the Cary has me thinking (especially considering the Harbeth are not efficient), I am not going to lie about that. Okay, I am a bit out of control but love this SET sound, hence the obsession. :satisfying:

I think the post "Dennis" Cary may be different than the LM, but not "better." From what i have read, it will take a lot of dollars to beat the LM. If you want to hear what Dennis think's about SET then you need to look on EBay for his Inspire amps.
