RMAF 2013 Pictures

Thanks Mike !! That being said, I bet you still love your Salon 2's !!

Did you hear anything that you would rather have ?

I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet.

Mark,

You bet! After being available for 5 years, they are still fantastic. You really have to spend a heck of lot more to get the Salon's level of performance - I don't mean to sound arrogant.

Now, I have not heard the Magico S5s. I do like the TADs - all 3 models are quite a bit more than the Salons. Do like the Wilson Alexias but they are also quite a bit more...

Mike,

It was great to meet finally meet you.

Those Voltis were a surprise. Yes, I also liked the Alexia's - specially with the Doshi electronics.

My highlights of the show: (in no particular order)

- Harbeths 30.1 - extremely musical little speaker. They used the Bricasti DAC with it...liked it a lot! (on my list for DSD DACs)
- Alexia - Doshi ... Nothing more to add
- Joseph Audio Pearl 3s with Rowland M825 ... Very musical
- Voltis - a pleasant surprise
- Wilson XLFs - Thor - VTL - DCS ... Wow!!!
- Scaenas - mid highs driven by the ARC Ref 75 ... The little amp that could!
- Lansches with Ypsilon were also fantastic and very musical
- Raidhos with Rowland - very musical, detailed and not bright and very quiet
- Vandersteen 7s with ARC and AMG with Lyra - very musical and wonderful presentation...non stop music...they do it right

Im sure I missed some but with so many rooms to visit, these are the ones that provided me very memorable experiences.

Thanks!

Two more I just remembered while sitting in Dallas waiting for my next flight:

- Zesto - TAD - the Zesto tube gear is very good looking, well made, super nice owners and it sounds terrific. This gear with the Harbeth 30.1s would be a fantastic system at a reasonable price.
- TAD room - spent a great half an hour listening to some great music with Andrew Jones as the "dj" - what a treat! From Jazz to classical to rock to caribean music...this was fun!

Awesome I think I love that zesto look and am toying with trying out an andros phonostage soon. Give another option for running cartridges and from what I understand is one of the best values in phonostage out there.
Thanks!!!

Mike, I'm in Boston right now. I plan on hearing the S5's at Goodwins on Tuesday, I'll let you know what I think !!

Thnx Tunes
Much appreciated. Nice at hi and low volumn?

Just a quick addition to what i last posted. Went back to the Audioarts room again today and it sounded even better on vinyl. Roberta Flack was sublime. With support from CH Precision rep's streaming, i heard several more electronic and indie tracks and we cranked it. No sign of a sweat, likely due to the solid CH amps and medium to high sensitivity of the zellatons. Really rocked this room. The trinity phono stage is now what i am lusting after ;)

Went to try to hear the airtight setup for the third time and again, they were demoing the other larger system in the room. Disappointing to miss that.

Mark, interested to know your impressions of the S5. What amp will you ask to drive them?

Great album.

I've heard some great things about that turntable.

Wow, it was exhausting just flipping through this thread. I can't imagine the headache and fatigue you must have had after visiting all these rooms, taking pics and posting. Thanks for the overwhelming effort Mike. Great job.

And Mike (the other Mike), thx for all the pictures.
BTW, if you did have some time to listen to some music, which rooms impressed you the most with their sound quality?

Our wonderful Debby and me. Debby rocks! Super cool chick! Love her.

No, YOU rock, Mike!! Was wonderful to finally meet you in person. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and say HI! :)

Debby,

Sorry I missed you at the show. I did try to catch up with you but you looked ridiculously busy on Friday.

It was a terrific "tour de force" by Wilson at RMAF. The XLFs and the Alexias showed beautifully. The Doshi gear with the Alexias was fantastic.

Mike

Mike, these are the speakers I'm curious about, most notably the small speakers in the second picture.

Thanks!
