RMAF 2013 Pictures

Thank you Kiwi. Yes, they said the granite made them sound less boomy. The Raidho/Rowland room was excellent sounding. Blackest backgrounds.

Thx to both Kiwi for noticing this and you Mike for replying. I had noticed the slabs under the D3's but I did not think much about it. When I saw your comment Kiwi and Mike's answer I placed two granite slabs under my D3's......in my room, it became a TOTALLY different speaker. More pinpoint imaging, BUT most importantly for me, with the SS Goldmund Telos 280 I am hitting peaks of about 102db with NO popping or any issue with the bass other than the bass sounds better than it ever has with the D3's. It seems to both go lower and the mid bass and lower mid bass seems totally cleared up. It has become very transparent in the bass with no "one note bass" you can hear bass texture clearly. Wow, what an upgrade....thank you Kiwi and Mike.....REALLY A BIG THANK YOU!!!

Bob, when Mike, Jock and I were visiting my dealer and friend David Baskin, we noticed he was using granite under his D3's. It makes a very big difference, for the better !!!

You're very welcome Bob. The Absolare rep was one of the nicest guys I met all show and those amps didn't disappoint. They sounded terrific.

Mike, I personally want to thank you for all the time and effort involved in keeping us so informed on RMAF. Well done !!

I was curious what you thought of the Acoustic Zen Crescendo's. Robert Lee is a very nice guy, and he usually has a great sound at shows.

Mike, as Mark said, thanks for keeping those of us not lucky enough to go to the show to live through it vicariously through your numerous posts.

Have a safe trip home. I look forward to people's summary of Best Sound at Show, biggest surprises/disappointments, etc.

cheers!

Thx Mark, for the additional confirmation. It really made a VERY positive difference in my D3 sound. I am sure it is very dependent on the floor surface as to whether the slabs would help or not. If you are in a cement basement then there probably would be no need for the granite, but I have so-so floor, it's actually a poured slurry material that is pretty porous and it definitely has always transmitted bass through it to lower and upper floors especially. Anyway, for me this was a Godsend.

Also the speakers are pin point imaging even to a greater extent than they were (which was really great) prior to the slab additions.

I had a very successful RMAF from this tip that was seen at the show and I didn't even have to leave my studio.....thx again Mike/Kiwi!

Yes, Kerem, who is actually the owner of Absolare is a very special person. Absolare a fairly new company of just six years will be bringing great sound to music lovers for years to come. I believe this because of Kerem and his global teams dedication and passion for the reproduction of music. It is evident with one look and listen to the Absolare gear.

He has a passion - I just wish he demoed his gear on more compatible speakers. Great guy. One of the nicest.

You're very welcome. The AZ speakers were very good. I went to that room three times. Very nice.

Allan - you're very welcome. I will my notes together and give you my impressions. It was fun to hear some things like the Super Tweeter and a company that rips apart YG speakers to make them sound better - and lots of crazy stuff like that.

The folks in this room were really nice guys. I came to visit 3 times. I hate to tell you that I did not like the sound. At one point, one of the guys was measuring and adjusting bias on the amps. Something was not right.

I have heard these speakers before and they sound better than I heard them in this set up.

The Absolare gear is great looking....

But, something was not right...

Hopefully Absolare will be showing soon with the "Waves" which is a match made in heaven per my two ears....

Mike,

It was great to meet finally meet you.

Those Voltis were a surprise. Yes, I also liked the Alexia's - specially with the Doshi electronics.

My highlights of the show: (in no particular order)

- Harbeths 30.1 - extremely musical little speaker. They used the Bricasti DAC with it...liked it a lot! (on my list for DSD DACs)
- Alexia - Doshi ... Nothing more to add
- Joseph Audio Pearl 3s with Rowland M825 ... Very musical
- Voltis - a pleasant surprise
- Wilson XLFs - Thor - VTL - DCS ... Wow!!!
- Scaenas - mid highs driven by the ARC Ref 75 ... The little amp that could!
- Lansches with Ypsilon were also fantastic and very musical
- Raidhos with Rowland - very musical, detailed and not bright and very quiet
- Vandersteen 7s with ARC and AMG with Lyra - very musical and wonderful presentation...non stop music...they do it right

Im sure I missed some but with so many rooms to visit, these are the ones that provided me very memorable experiences.

Thanks!

Best of Show and Most Memorable listings are very helpful and appreciated given the magnitude of choices.
