Revel Studio2 - a wonderful speaker ... Wow!

Congrats Joe! Can you tell us if these will replace your CR1? Have you done some comparison test?

I am a bit late with my congrats, but I have their big sisters and these are great speakers. I'd love to hear them on you amps though.

We are all coming over to your house tomorrow to audition them! I hope you have enough soda and potato chips! Seriously, congrats and let us know what you are listening too!

Congrats Joe! Beautiful speakers for sure and they look right at home with the rest of your top-notch gear. You have a lot of listening time ahead of you as you swap all of the different combos in and out of your system. Enjoy! :woot:

Thanks Doug. I've been rotating through some gear with some surprising results.

Joe,

Today will be day 2 with the Studios and the DAG stereo amp. Love to read your thoughts on the combo.

Mike

Mike,

I love the Dag combo, but there are some aspects of the Job 225 (with its Goldmund DNA) that I enjoy more, for now. The Dag is one smooth performer with balls. Nothing seems to stick out, like everything is there without highlights. One thing I like about the Job 225 is the fact that there seems to be more separation between voices and instruments. The Job 225 seems to have more energy. The Dag is more cohesive. It's almost like I can reach out and grab the voices/instruments with the Job 225 - sort of more in my face which I think the Revels need. I think I love the Dag on my TADs because there seems to be some forgiveness to the treble of the CR-1's while not running out of steam. This is subject to change a little as I get more familiar with my Studio2.

One thing I am bound to explore in the future is Goldmund because of my experience with the Job 225. If I can get more sweetness, for my taste, perhaps with tubes in front of it, oh man.

Constellation and Viola are among the other amps I need to hear. I suspect each will have their strengths on the CR-1's vs the Studio2.

Congrats Joe! Can you tell us if these will replace your CR1? Have you done some comparison test?

Thanks Ron,

That was the plan, but now I am rethinking things as preamp/amp/source choices change. I am discovering different combinations of gear that I thought, in my head, would be better. One thing I am learning, do not make assumptions because in the real world of trying gear - trying the combo and listening to the results always reveals differences in your thinking. There is no substitute for experience.

Thanks Barry. I still need to tweak the setup but, wow! The Revels are truly stellar performers and show upstream electronics like nobody's business.

Soda?

Oh wait,

Mixers - I forgot.

From tea to moonshine, something for everyone. :)

Joe,

Since you are already in an audio gear mix... Why not try Raidho's d3 in the mix with D'Agostino's combo? :panic:

Ron,

Hmmmmmm. I'm already one step ahead of you. How about D1 upstairs and D3's downstairs?

Ron,

I don't have any more spare organs to sell. The Valhalla2 may have to wait. :)

They are exit speakers - even for us!

Nah, don't believe it, not for one sec! Not that the Raidho's aren't great, but you guys are Audio Sharks, you know...:D

Congrats on yet another great pair of speakers, Joe!! Isn't the tweeter something?!:audiophile: Can't wait to see what stays and what goes, and what gets paired up with what!!!:exciting:

Allen,

The tweeters are pretty amazing. Actually the whole package is pretty awesome. I think you have an idea what I am hearing. Such a deal.
