Posting etiquette

It's a wheat and chaff thing :) some tier 2/3 reviewers take themselves too seriously if you ask me, especially the ones with their speakers 3 feet apart ..

I'm probably a tier 10 reviewer, but who has their speakers 3' apart?

Good luck with that combination….and you wonder why you get the reactions that you get. It's useless.

Some people have no sense of humor which makes it tough to get through life. Some people of later generations than mine grew up being told they were perfect and everything they did was perfect. Some of these people still believe this when they first come into the workforce once they have left the cocoons they were raised in.

Sorry Mike , this is not about you , me or anyone posting here, this is about critiquing the reviewer , look at the hidden summary .....

Do tell: What is the hidden "summary?" Or did you mean hidden agenda?

I don't know, the fact that so many of you are interested in the performance of a record-cleaning machine well illustrates the depth of your delusions. JMO, YMMV, etc.

The only real analog is live music. Everything else is a facsimile of one type or another with all the inherent flaws present and unavoidable with each respective medium.

Does everyone think that if you start a thread on AS that no one should post on your thread unless they agree with everything you have said? It seems to me that if you post something, you should expect people to voice their opinions about what you have posted even if that means they don't necessarily agree with you. I know some people expect nothing but love, sunshine, exaltations of their innate genius, and plenty of cyber pats on the back to reinforce their brilliance. Some of these same people get lathered up if you voice your opinion about things they have posted and it doesn't jive with their sense of self-worth and reality as they envision it.

Any thread I post here on AS as well as links to reviews I write I expect to be open to criticism from anyone who takes the time to read my posts or reviews I have linked to. I kind of thought that is how things worked and how sometimes you learn when people offer up criticism. It doesn't mean you always agree with your critics, but it also doesn't mean you should disparage them just because you don't agree with them and they weren't smart enough to recognize your brilliance. I have noticed that on AS that it always seems to be open season on reviewers (no ethics, you can't trust them, they have all been bought, their reviews are horrible unless they praise something you own, they have crappy rooms, etc., etc.) and even though I am a reviewer, I don't get in a snit over those comments and run off to see a therapist in order to rebuild my damaged psyche.

I guess the lesson I have learned here is that I will no longer comment on any thread on AS unless I'm in 100% backslapping agreement with the OP.

Mark, I completely disagree with your point of view on this. It's nonsense. You are a big knucklehead. I am frankly brilliant to have realized this about you. :mock:

Seriously, we all just need to chill a bit and be decent about things. Some folks are more direct than others and some are more sensitive than others. Let's all try our best to meet in the middle and have fun. But right now lets all go watch the third period. Go Hawks!

True my friend but guys like you and me gotta remember this point and go with the flow when we bump up against other people. A bit of give and take; no big deal. I love your direct approach and sarcasm. Don't change for me. Sometimes for guys like us being nice is just friction. It consumes energy and slows things down, but without it we can run over people.

I agree with Mike...it depends. But I will say short of personal attacks, open contempt, or belittlement, Id be inclined to let people voice their opposing opinions as aggressively as they like.

I live in NY. Sarcasm is our native language and I get the inside jokes, but rude and condescending are not a good substitute for being "nice". Maybe we should, as you put it, expend the energy and slow things down. It might actually help.

Whut? An original can't be a copy of itself can it? <cue Twilight Zone music>

Um, I think that's what I just said (or was trying to). If we are hangin with people who don't have a skin as thick as ours and we aren't nice (even though we consider it an unnecessary expense) people get hurt and that's not cool. BTW, I got my thick skin in NY too.
