Paul's Systems...Before and After.

Paul: Tell us about your experience picking speaker wire. I am particularly interested in the 275s and what wires you tried with them. Your opinions on silver vs copper if any?

Bill

Re: BlueMcIntosh's Systems...Before and After.

Paul - what a fun journey! I would really like to know more about your 275's since they have been a main stay in your system. What do you like about them? How do they sound? What have you done tube rolling wise? Etc.

Re: BlueMcIntosh's Systems...Before and After.

Paul,
What do you like about the Klimts? I have only heard the Beethovens (which I like).

Re: BlueMcIntosh's Systems...Before and After.

Re: BlueMcIntosh's Systems...Before and After.

Looks fantastic Paul!! Will you be putting the Klimt's in this room as well, or are they sting in another room?

Mike....So sorry for late response. I had to work hard to pay off my visa bill :)

* McIntosh MC275.

First of all, I love the look of MC275. They look classic and never get tired of looking at them. Also they are very musical tube amp which means it makes you want to listen to music. However It does NOT have the best bass like a MC2301, or Best detail & High like you can get from the SS amp but same time it doesn't have the any bad trait either.

One time I asked the Jock "why would you have a MC275 ?" ( you guys all know his Hi -end gears ) He replied " because sometimes you come across a product that does something special for the music and I feel that the 275 is one of those products. is it the best at any one parameter - no, but it has a special quality that most don't have." and I totally agree with Jock.

After all , I always wanted to have some tube amp in my chain and the 275 tube amp is one that make sounds like a tube amp. If you want to have some real tube sounds this might be the ticket. However if you are looking for a tube amp with big impact on Bass and airy highs and fine detail ? please look elsewhere. The MC275's can drive your WA Alexia with sweet tube sounds for the evening.

As a tube rolling I haven't done much experience on KT88 other than GL but did with 12AX7. My favorite goes to Telefunken, GL and Mullard.

Hope this help .

Re: BlueMcIntosh's Systems...Before and After.

Thanks Paul. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Which iteration of the 275 do you have? Mark VI? Mark V?

Like you, I think its fun to swap back and forth between SS and REAL tubes!

Re: BlueMcIntosh's Systems...Before and After.

Thanks Paul. Did you ever hear the VI version? Any difference?
