Panel Lovers What Do You Own ?????

Bob,

These are oh so sweet. I had Apogee Duetta II. Sadly I could not upgrade them to the Sigs but I loved them anyway. Great speakers.

My first post on the forum guys.

I've got a pair of mint Apogee Duetta Signatures. I've pulled the crossover out of the speakers and put it into a separate outboard box. Replaced resistors with Mills, replaced caps with a variety of Russian PIO's, Sonicaps, Auricaps and left a few of the vintage Sprague's in there, also potted the inductors.

These baby's need power, so I've got a McCormack DNA500 delivering about 1200 watts into their 3 ohm load. Of course there are still tubes in the preamp and phono stage (gotta have tubes somewhere).

Enjoy,
Bob

I have a pair of Martin Logan Theos. In the past, I've owned Quad ESL 63, Maggies (forgot the model), Acoustat 1100, and ML ReQuests. When I got married, I had the ML Requests, which completely dominated our new living room, so to make my wife happy, I sold them and bought a pair of B&W 804. When the Theos came out, their size had a greater WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor), so I talked her into another pair of 'stats! She's starting to think that even the Theos are too big, so the search for an adequate replacement may soon commence!

Good grief! Is that your living room or a dedicated audio room? I told her that finding a smaller dynamic speaker than even comes close to the clarity of electrostatics will be expensive. She's mulling it over at the moment!

She's tolerant of my of my audio needs, so I plan to keep her.:D

It's the living room. It adjoins and is open to the library, dining room, kitchen, office and beyond, which all enjoy, to some extent, the glorious concert hall effect that SoundLabs provide, with little fall-off to the full spectrum coherent sound; while the 'sweet zone' is best, the music is everywhere, and one senses that they are not far from the orchestra or stage. Fortunately, my wife appreciates the music enough to overcome the normal negative WAF of such large panels in the house.

My wife enjoys music, but not to that degree! When I listen to hardcore atonal music, I spare her and use my Stax headphones. I have yet to find any speakers that have the utter clarity, detail, and lack of coloration that they have.

Quad 57 with Gradient SW57 subs for most of my audio life, only recently replaced by
Zellaton's.

Man, this thread makes me miss my old Apogee's and Martin Logan's. One day, I shall revisit the world of boxless transducers. :D

Something like these Acoustat 1+1s with seperate interface to be placed near the monoblock.:)

Never been much of a panel fan except for Maggie's. Owned and loved many pairs. it has been a while, well overdue for another listen.

Just editing and adding another line. Been thinking and maybe I have been more of a fan than I think. Old Quad's, Acoustat model X's and Apogee Scintilla's were all very much enjoyed in my past.

Oh yeah also forgot about the Big Sander electrostats. Heard them at James Tanner's home. They were incredibly transparent.

I guess I do like Panels after all.

I have Acoustat 2+2 in my main/ht system. I used to use Acoustat model 4 as rear speakers for surround sound but now just use the fronts (don't miss the rears). The plan is to eventually build Acoustat model 6's in another 2 channel system (larger room) and leave the 2+2 for home theater.
