Hi Sharks-
I'm looking at purchasing a phono stage in the near future and would like some input. I've done a lot of reading and have narrowed my options to the Rogue Audio Triton, the Project Phono Box RS, and the Dynavector p75 mk3. Unfortunately I'm unable to hear any of them before purchase, but all have been very positively reviewed, and I would likely be taking advantage of an online retailers trial period.

I'm using a Technics 1700 and AT OC9/ii, Wyred 4 Sound STP-SE, and First Watt F6. I listen to moden jazz (Gogo Penguin), electronic music of all kinds, reggae, and a whole lot of other stuff. I love DETAIL, but can't stand a brittle or lean sound. My top three priorities are detail, speed, and tonal density/richness (even if it means sacrificing "neutrality").

Just looking for input from anyone who's used these products. If you have a suggestion for other preamps I should be looking at, by all means throw them out there. I've been incredibly impressed by the wealth of knowledge that exists on this forum.

Thanks! :hey:

Yes, I've seen those too. Also been looking at the Musical Surroundings gear as well.

Phil, while I've not experienced the Rogue Triton myself, I've read the reviews and knowing Mark Obrien and his crew as I do (yeah I'm a 'Rogue' kinda guy) I wouldn't hesitate for a moment. From what I've read it's quiet and outfitted with cartridge loading flexibility.

IMO the Lehmann Black Cube SE II two chassis phono amp is tough to beat in the $1k range.

I haven't heard this one but MF seems to like it: [link removed]

I have heard the iFi unit and find it a good value for the money in combo with a Scout/SoundSmith Zephyr system

I'd been looking @ that pre for a while now (see my OP) and regularly see them as demo units for around $700. MF's endorsement makes it even more appealing...

I'm searching for an inexpensive phono stage myself for a 2nd room, great suggestions from all!

You might want to contact Boris of Vista Audio on AC about trying his. Extremely flexible in terms of loading and gain, plus great sounding and a bargain.
