treitz3,
I think it is Qobuz connect.
I was able to select my Lumin from the Qobuz app as you suggested from the Qobuz speaker connect tab
The Lumin Player component screen shows Qobuz.

Alas, still... the Tablet is still freezing up.

When I play my music on through the Qobuz app the sound only comes out through the iPad. So, it must be picking up my songs from the Lumin? How do I connect it up to my Lumin?

In Qobuz app, tap the speaker icon, then select Lumin.

wklie,

Thanks, I have done that.

Still freezing up, after 2 different iPads (Apple & Samsung) 2 different modems, countless rebooting etc. Still the same problem exists. I swear there is something wrong with the latest Lumin firmware/Qobuz Connect update. Everything seemed fine before that.
Hard to believe that I am the only one experiencing this problem.

BTW, just with Qobuz connect app playing, it does not sound as good as with the Lumin app. Plus the Qobuz screen functions seem to be less practical.

I like the Lumin app, just can't stand this constant freezing up!

wklie,
Well... I powered down everything overnight. I then deleted the new Lumin app from the Samsung tablet. Then I downgraded the Lumin app to the previous version as you provided, and it works now without freezing up! Must have been the new app.

HUGE Thanks!!!

BTW, the newest firmware version did sound better that this older version in terms of sound quality.
Hopefully future upgrades will try to marriage these 2 firmware's.

Question though:
On my Samsung Tablet, In the process of the downgrade, I did switch from Samsung to Chrome streaming. Could that have possibly been why the newest version was freezing up ? Should I dare to try the newest version upgrade again...? Gulp...

I guess I was getting confused between a Firmware update and an App. I think I understand the difference now.

Question though:
On my Samsung Tablet, In the process of the downgrade to the 7.1.7 app, I did switch from Samsung to Chrome streaming. Could that have possibly been why the current version 8.0 was freezing up?
Should I dare to try the latest app version upgrade again...? Gulp...

App is the software running on your tablet or mobile phone,, downloaded from app store or Play store.

Firmware is the software running inside your Lumin hardware, updated via Lumin app.

They are independently updated.

Thanks. Is it possible though that switching from Samsung streaming to Chrome will have any effect with the new App freezing up?

ozzy

I'm not sure what "Samsung streaming" is, but if you mean you're changing the default web browser from Samsung browser to Chrome, then it should not be related.

Ok thanks. Sorry if I seem to be a pest but I still can't figure out why just an app upgrade change would cause the Tablets to freeze up.
Perhaps I should delete some of the other apps on the device?

ozzy

Have you had any locking up issues ever since it started working? If not, don''t fix what ain't broke and don't rock the boat. Leave well enough alone, don't care about the "Why/How/What" and just enjoy the music brother.

Life's to short to bother yourself with certain things. ;)(y)

Looks like the latest Lumin app 9.0 was just updated to my Samsung Tablet, and once again the Tablet playing the Lumin is freezing up!

ozzy

Have you selected a local library or not? USB drive? MinimServer? How large is the library (total file size and/or album count)?

Yes, I have an 8 TB Hard Drive attached to the Lumin via usb. It contains my entire CD/Record collection, approx. 5000 albums, CD recordings. Most are recorded in a HR format.

Still, I never had an issue until the latest updates.
Should I disconnect my Hard Drive until I am ready to use it?

Just disconnected the Hard drive. Samsung/Lumin still freezing up after about 15-20 minutes.
Sigh, So frustrating...

Just returned to the Lumin app 7.1.7 that wklie provided and it is not freezing up.

What is it about the latest 2 app updates that is causing the problem?

For more information.
I am using a Fiber connection from my EtherRegen directly to the Lumin X1.
Is it possible that the fiber connection is not able to pass all the signal that is in the new apps?

It has to be something with the new Lumin apps, I have tried every possible setting on the Samsung and the Lumin.

Help!

ozzy

EtherRegen only has the one 100 Ethernet port (“B Port”) opposite the side from the SFP cage. The “A Side” is all 1 gig. The SFP connection should be 1 gig speed, depending on your specific modules. Try using copper Ethernet, from etherRegen and the Lumin, and see if there is any difference.

I’m assuming your incoming Ethernet is plugged into to “B” port. If you’re incoming Ethernet is plugged into the “A” then run copper Ethernet from the “B” port to the Lumin.

My incoming Ethernet came on Fiber, with “B” going to the DAC.

Bones13,

Thank you for the help.

I found that the Lumin sounds better using the fiber to it, and, the etherregen/Lumin has been connected up this way since I purchased the Lumin several years ago.
I don't understand why now with a new app that would be an issue.
To run ethernet cable to the Lumin just to try it would require quite a bit of maneuvering the cables through the walls. Something I am willing to do if that would solve the problem, but I don't think it would.

Is it possible that the new Lumin app is using more memory space than the previous 7.1.7 version?

I think I have found the problem... Thanks to Bones13 questioning about the EtherRegen, I started looking long and hard at that connection.

Drum Roll...
It seems that the culprit is a Rick Shultz Shockwave unit (ethernet) that was connected from the Modem/Router and then plugged into the B side of my Ether Regen, once I removed that device, the Lumin no longer freezes up! And I am now using the latest app 9.0.2

So, either:
1. The Rick Shultz Shockwave has become defective.
2. Or it just will not work with the last 2 Lumin app updates. If that is true, it is baffling. .

From the Rick Shultz ad On Audiogon

"The all new Shockwave from Rick Schultz Audio or RSA.
Utilizing patented magnetic conduction technology shockwave brings a new level of clarity dynamics and realism to streaming systems.
Simply plug shockwave “in series” to your ethernet cable that is currently connected to your media server or computer.

The technology of magnetic conduction brings dramatic change by increasing the speed of the actual digital signal reducing noise.
This is the newest and most exciting product we have launched in quite some time.
Shockwave Ethernet device is a true game changer for streaming and ads level of clarity, musicality and dynamics.".
