Believe me I have tried. I am currently running a fiber cable to the Lumin X1, but I have also tried Ethernet with the same result. I even tried my cell phone which is on a different carrier than my home internet and it also freezes up on about the 8th song. And even a Hard drive that I occasionally connect up to the Lumin also freezes up at about the 8th song.
It doesn't matter which playlist or what order.

Now you're on to something, I appreciate your input, however too bad you are experiencing the same problem.
What is so strange is that the older apps, such as 7.1.7 works fine. Something changed in the last few months.
I am now wondering if this has something to do with the age of the Lumin. I mean the build date; there may have been a defect that is just now showing up. Lumin probably doesn't want to admit it.
Seems like now their approach is to just ignore it...
