I know. I thought about that too. But, I'm 100% satisfied right now with the system in my Main room - and I can't remember ever saying that. Of course I would like to try a different cartridge, look forward to adding my R2R, etc. - but after months of frustration with bass issues - I'm in a happy place! :)

Ah, your taking into account the relief you feel after winning the bass battle, as you should. I would.
Yes, bass issues can drive you mad. I'm extremely picky about bass, like a bass nazi. I want musical, good, clean, tight bass where you can hear each distinctive note. (I'd have Geddy Lee come over and play Bass if I could....uh, well, I think not. Geddy is a very nice guy, but not that nice). That's what I want in speakers and the first thing I tested for when I was shopping. Of course, the room will just about change everything. I thought I had the best bass handling speakers for music to my ears, I do, but a room can wreck that dream fast, damn it.
For me, the real thing that needs to be changed is the room and I mean completely. That isn't happening for probably a good 2 years.
 
I'd rate my system as a solid 6. Mostly due to it's tremendous bang for the buck ratio. OK. So what if no actual unit of measurement exists that defines this so-called ratio. Whatever. 6 outta 10. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I've done all I can with the room I have. I'm fortunate to have my own dedicated room....it increases time for listening and peaceful matters in the home. If we moved I would build a better room - but like I said, it is what it is and I'm lucky to have it.
 
5. I've got a ok foundation for the amount of money I have in it but my room and my pre are the weakest link right now. My system does give me many hours of enjoyment per week and to me that's what it's all about.

It probably wouldn't! There will be a need to upgrade to Dan's new $150K preamp to match the amps. Then, you might as well upgrade the cables...:rolleyes:
 
Probably about a seven for the home theater and an eight for the 2-channel system.
 
Is Dan releasing his own cables too? :dancing:

You would think the Helius would come with power connects. :O
 
For 2-channel: 8.5. Among the last 1.5, I would say acoustics/vibration management/power delivery improvements make up about 1 to 1.2. The remaining .3 to .5 would be for gear. I think the bang for the buck improvements for me at this point would be to my listening environment rather than components.

For HT: 7.5. Here is where an upgrade in components would be worthwhile, as I have had most of my HT gear for many years now. Still holds up very well, though, so I'm in no hurry to do anything here.
