out of curiosity anyone compare, Wilson Sabrina vs Focal Sopra 2 (both speakers on my short list)

Cheers

Sopra 2 gets my vote.

With all the Kii talk, I was disappointed. Boomy bass. Unimpressive tweeter. No contest vs the Avantgarde Zero's IMO.
So Mike, what was better the Kii demo or the Devialet Phantom staging?

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

Tremendous photos, Socfan, please keep them coming!

Thanks,
Ken

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

Magico S7s driven by Soulution monos is instantly the best sound at the show. Yes, the bass is incredible. But the overall realism of the presentation is what gets me. Focals are well represented here, including a room with Soulution. But the Magico S7s sounded better to me. I was filled with covetousness when I was listening.

The S7's will be arriving at Rhapsody Music and Cinema, Manhattan, in about two weeks.....of course all are invited to come in for a listen.

The Devialet Phantom for the money is quite good. It's the type of product that will take a current Bose listener to the next level up.

I sat with 12 people yesterday and we all agreed on the Kii's. Blah. Boomy bass and a unimpressive tweeter. BUT, let's remember the rooms here aren't the best. I see their potential as a lifestyle product.

Aside from Avantgarde (because I'm biased!), I was most impressed with YG. Damn, they had speakers in 3 or 4 rooms and they were all tops. YG speakers were the only common denominator.

Second, the Focal Sopra 1's with the little NAIM integrated sounded damn good and the Focal Sopra 2's with the Aesthetix sounded excellent.

I loved the new VAC Signature 200's with the Focal Grande Utopia's. These amps from VAC are so cool. You can use any KT tube type - just pop them in, the auto bias IQ technology does the rest. Kt88, kt120, kt150 and go! The room sounded great.

The Lampi/Vapor/Resolution Acoustics room sounded good - but a tad loud seemed to be the common comment.

I have the entire other side of the building to cover AND the Hyatt and continue to work the Avantgarde room. Phew!

Thanks! I'm missing attending this year (after enjoying the last few), so I appreciate the opportunity to live vicariously through all the photos and commentary. Keep it coming!

One of the YG rooms Mike is talking about. Driven by a PS Audio stack:

This was one of my favorite rooms: Kharma DB9-s with a Zesto stack. Punchy, great mids, sweet highs:

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

Cool! One of the reasons for YG to be exhibiting with PS Audio (or the other way around!) was that we got a first glimpse of those awesome PS Audio amps at Newport, earlier this year, and all parties were extremely impressed with it. We had the D'Agostino integrated amp in the room as well, as the PS Audio stereo amp held its own!

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

For those of you there, if anyone gets a chance to listen to the Audio Physic Avanti speaker, I would appreciate any listening impressions. Mike posted a pick of it earlier in the thread. Thx for all the pics and keep 'em coming.

Magico S7's with Magico subs. Soulution 701 monos, Vitus preamp. Big diffusers.

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

VAC 160 integrated

Big switch from Carl's usual ARC Ref 75. But I meant what is the Q4 on the floor stand? Is that in the Nola room? It was grouped with the Nola pics.

Re: Official 2015 RMAF Picture & Comment Thread

Suggestion,

Since this thread is already 6 pages long maybe new threads should be started for days 2&3. Just a thought.
